I've got a 1992 Civic EX 4-door that's failed emissions for NOX. I've adjusted the timing, replaced the oxygen sensor, fuel filter, sea foamed, etc. but it still failed. So it must be the catalytic converter. I was thinking about getting a Catco hi-flow cat direct fit from summitracing.com, but I can't find one for a 1992 EX. They only list a direct fit for a 1993-1995 1.6L civic (part number 4716). Would this be the same direct-fit converter, or no? Aren't these all D16z6 cars..? If not, what are my options? Thanks in advance for any help.

Also, my local shop that installed my catback system uses Eastern catalytic converters.. should I just have them weld a universal Eastern hi-flow cat on? Thanks again.

 

I am having the same problem with the high NO levels. I have a catco cat and apparently it doesn't do too much. I passed last e-check with it on though. I don't know what you have found out, but high NO levels are a result of high cylinder temps. Which can be caused by a number of things like bad cooling, lean a/f mixture, etc. My current plan (after I swich my f*ckin shot axles) is to run a step colder, non platinum plugs and 87 octane as opposed to my platinum plugs and 93 octane. I will probably let my car cool off for a little in the parking lot also. But, if you are not running a cat at all, then yes, get something on there.
