Default Can slamming the brakes hurt the half shafts

On saturday I was on the HWY and then traffic out of nowhere just plain out stopped. I smoked the tires for about 20 feet and it hasn't felt as smooth ever since. And the turns are really shakey.....could this be the half shafts?

Maybe you warped your rotors? Does the steering wheel vibrate when you're braking?

What he said!!
You left so much rubber on the ground that your tires have a flat spot. Rotate tires front to rear might help a little.

what everyone said... most likely warped the rotors, especially at highway speeds. and ur tires are probably jacked too, 20 feet is pretty far

This is probably the case...

I can rotate them, but wouldn't the tires in the rear be the same since the brakes hit there as well. And if it's the rotors, do they get replaced or do they get refinished?

On most consumer cars, the brakes are biased to lock the fronts before the rears. So no, the rears probably did not lock up. Even if they did, the weight transfer would mean that the fronts have it far worse anyways.

the term is turned. as far as the problem it most definatley is the tires. you could rotate them to the rear but problem will still be there, only maybe, less noticable. there is also a good chance you warped your rotors too. that would also have to be looked at...
