oil cooler install problem
I'm about to install an oil cooler. I've got a Mocal sandwich adapter to fit on the stock oil filter location. The problem is that I cant get the adapter to fit without bending the oil pressure switch(?) line (to the left in the picture):

Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Is it ok to bend this line (just a bit) out of the way?

No, there's just not enought room for the line to fit between the outlets on the adapter. I can bend the line under the outlets, but I don't think that's a good idea.

hmmm... that might work!

I used to have the same set up as yours and here is what I did to mine: I cut a vertical line on the stress relieve rubber thing to about 1/2 inch. Make sure that the cut is on the side which the wire is going to bend toward. Next, I peeled the stress relieve rubber to the end of the cut. If you do it right, the wire should be bent out of the way and you now have the peeled rubber seatings between the wire and the fitting. This is good because the rubber is now acting like an insulator between the wire and the fitting. Hope this help.

Took a picture of the oil preassure switch. As you see on the picture there's a piece of plastic sticking up. I need to somehow get it out of the way. Is it ok just to break it off (or something
)?

Rotate the sandwich plate a little more in the CW direction, remove the stock oil pressure sending wire, tighten down the AN flare sockets and then re-connect the wire.
It'll still touch it a little, but it shouldn't bend it as much.

You can pull on that plastic thing straight off (it's a plug) and then tighten your adapter plate. Then once the adapter is tight and snug/ no leaks, simply reattach the plastic plug.
It should fit fine then.

After much hassle I've finally installed everything.
When I started up the car ANOTHER problem occured
. It leaks oil between the adapter and one of the AN fittings (see pic). I tightened the AN fittings as hard as I could before installing the adapter, and still it leaks. Looks like I have to take the adapter off again
.
Any suggestions to how I can stop the leak?? If I remove the AN fitting, is there something, grease or whatever, I can put on the adapter/fitting to prevent leaks?

I used paste on my install the first time, because I was a believer. 4 fittings leaked. Teflon tape solved the problem.
I don't understand how you guys can say the tape is too messy. It's much cleaner to work with than the paste.

i had a similiar leak when putting on my oil pressure gauge using teflon tape. I was wondering how much tape you are suppose to use (like how many times to wrap around) and what direction to wrap it in?
I've had the teflon tape get soaked through with oil and sometimes they'll leak with the tape. I've tried the paste once and didn't like it, so I only use Hondabond from now on.

true that... tape isn't messy as long as your patient with it and have clean hands

well... then the entire oil cooler install ended quite badly
. When I should torque everything back again after putting on some teflon tape, this happend:

Looks like i'm going to need a new adapter
. I dont suppose this is possible to weld back together again!??
