Like it says. Its always done it, but i figured i would post a thread after a search revealed no answers. In the lower rpms the intake (assuming the filter) makes a whistling kind of pssstt sound. And it sounds like a little mini blow off valve when i shift. I dont mind the sound when i shift, but the pssst sound is kinda annoying, because its high pitched. Hm, how can i describe it accurately. Combine an "eeeeeeeeee" with a "pssssssst". WOT it doesnt do it. Its normal driving that does it, till like 3k. Anything wrong with the filter or do i just accept it and enjoy the top end power.

Its an Injen CAI on a base rsx 5spd

 

the AEM CAI in my EF whistles too. I've posted this in the EF forum and it seems to be normal.

 

im pretty sure its supose to do that. my injen shortram does the same thing. i like it

 

You could always put the stock airbox back on with the resonators to cut down on the noise

 

shoot mine backfires ocassionally to boot

 

what you're hearing is the throttle body closing and opening. That's why if you power shift you'll never hear it.

 

welcome to the world of the CAI.......my AEM whistled like crazy. thought it sounded kinda cool

 

common on CAI and short ram. never heard it on aftermarket airboxes.

sounds cool. I don't hear that on my ep3 with AEM SRI. Maybe I should get cold air.

 

YOu should still hear it on a sri, that's what I have. AEM by the way.
