Comptech vs. Apex vs. Tanabe
I was wondering what exhaust would be the best out of the three i am looking into buying a full cat back exhaust system within the next week. Id like to know which of exhaust gives you the most power. What they sound like and how good there quality is. The Apex is the N1 the tanabe racing medallion or the Comptech Sport exhaust. I have tried doing a search but none of them really answer my question thanx in advance.
ok..ive heard the comptech sounds the best out of the three. ive driven in a car w a racing medallion, thing is the LOUDEST i have ever heard. ive heard apex N1 is loud as well, but nicer tone. the comptech is definitely the quietest out of the three. quality wise, comptech, apex, tanabe in that order. power wise im not sure..i think the N1 and medallion are 3" exhausts tho. id go w/ the apex N1 if you dont mind a mean, loudaxx tone.
U say go with the Apex but does it at least sound deep? I dont mind it being loud as long as it is deep not a high pitched ricer sounding thing
So then in order from deepest to buzziest is Comptech- Apex- Tanabe?
And also if i get the silencer for the Apex it will be just as quiet as stock when I want it to be or what?

i just got the apex n1 installed two weeks ago. Lemme tell you, i was very afraid of how loud this exhaust might be. But now, i love it. It sounds great. But even with the silencer, it doesn't even sound CLOSE to stock, its still loud as a ****. Well actually i dunno, i've been driving around without the silencer lately, sounds better imo with no silencer.
Yeah I know Ive heard that the Evo is pretty good and I think I would get that one if they made it for 01 GSR but they dont
You can modify the piping and it will fit right in but im not going to pay 400+ and modify the pipes. So u would recommend the Apex over the Tanabe? Cause I think its pretty much between those two cause I can get really good prices on them and the Comptech is going to be quite more expensive.

I would have to say go with the Comptech. You'll love the sound quality. The design uses twin glass packs in series with a resonated tip. It's really deep, but not too loud so you won't get a headache when you're cruising on the highway.
If you do get the comptech and decide it's not loud enough, you still have options. You can always add an AEM intake or possibly replace just the rear muffler section with something else.
One nice thing about the comptech that's not always mentioned is that it uses the same attachment points as the stock exhaust. You could swap your stock rear muffler back on if you needed it really quiet for a long road trip or if you wanted to go louder, you could swap in a louder rear section or maybe even just have a muffler shop fabricate a straight pipe for you. In the case of the straight pipe, you would still have the B-pipe glass-pack to act as a muffler. This probably wouldn't get you much more power, but it would get you a lot of noise

One last plug for the comptech. It actually clears my hidden hitch OK. That wouldn't be the case with a lot of the systems out there. I realize that's probably not a common mod people have on their integras, but it's pretty useful for carrying around a bunch of bicycles.
Anyway, good luck with your decision. I doubt you can really go wrong either way.
I kinda want something that u can hear and not that expensive. I know if I think the Apex or the Tanabe are annoyingly loud ill just put the silencer on them. But I guess I want the deeper sounding one out of the two. I heard comptech was extremly quiet like stock quiet.
You can find a clip of the comptech exhaust on a Civic SI at:

It should sound pretty much the same on your integra.
One last thing you might want to consider is how much low end torque you might lose on these systems. The prices on the comptech systems have come down recently to about $550. Good luck.
one thing the comptech has going for it, is its full stainless. The A'pex and tanabe are not. However, I had an N1 on an FC3S RX7 and didnt have any corrosion problems whatsoever (and I live in ohio).
Hands down, you get what you pay for with quality. The Comptech has PERFECT welds, ALL SS, and have a great tone and volume. It is expensive, but you won't run into any clearance problems as with some of the other exhausts (like the SP). I used to have the Comptech until I ran over a BIG rock and I couldn't afford to replace it. The Apex-i N1 isa great exhaust, but it IS loud. Soundsbetter than the RM on an Integra, in my opinion. The RM is just plain loud. Trust me, you won't want to put in the silencer everytime you pick up your honey... Whatever choice you make, I'm sure you will be happy. Good Luck

PS- go to http://www.angelfire.com/nc2/Integra I just use that to host afew pics (which are out of date now), but their are a few pics of the Comptech on my car.

I don't suppose anyone has a video/sound clip of the N1? I'm pretty sure I wanna get it but I want to make sure it doesnt sound ricey, since I've heard all kinds of varying reports on the board (misinformation sucks
).
Oh yeah.. nice video, lol. The comptech sounds awesome.
