Give it a compression and leakdown test, then report back.

took to racetune in hayward an the guy told me it could be lack of fuel coming from fuel injectors, needs valve adjustment, compression and leakdown test, and finally adjusted timing, the guy at racetune was super cool and im probably going to have him tune my car after i add cam gears and purchase an fc.

if you need more fuel, you will probably damage if not blow up the motor shortly (I'd guess that motor might be damaged already)

Get that thing tuned ASAP

what management are you running?
are you detonating?
how high are you reving?

don't get an FC, although it's good, it's not good for the price. your car is obd1, take advantage of it and save some bucks with uberdata or crome. don't mash on your car until you get it tuned. also you should have done a compression test before you bought the car.

Anyone else notice he says he has CTR pistons and then "12:1 compression".. Doesn't add up...

B18C1 + CTR pistons = 12.9:1
B18C5 + CTR pistons = 12.5:1

my bad stock pistons. oops. and yes should have done a compression and leakdown test before buying, because today in my class did compression test and came out 175 across the board which seemed okay and on the leakdown cylinders 1 and 2 were at 5% but three was like 90%. maybe bad valve i dunoo. can somebody tell me what this means?

Well, did you hear a hissing sound in the intake manifold when doing the leakdown? Hissing from the exhaust? Thats how you can tell if its a valve. I would bet its a bent valve... thats more common I would say then one cylinder of rings dying.

There is no set formula to figure it out. Each gauge will show a different reading. Its not about the number, its about the consistency. If your running stock pistons, it should be 10:1.

Your not going to be able to see the bent valve unless its REAL bad. If it is that bad, count on new valve guides, retainers, etc. You will most likley need to remove the head completely to find the problem.

I'll agree with that.
I recently had my timing belt skip a beat and bent all 8 exhaust valves. I took the head off and could have sworn they were all good to go.

I put them on the spinner at my friends mech. shop, and sure enough, 8 bent valves.

Yes, it will still run. Not a good idea however.

(hatch77)

^That sucks to hear that you bent 8 of your valves. The distributor bearing on my 90 teg siezed up a while ago and the cam shafts obviously aren't gonna break so my timing belt jumped a few teeth off but somehow (miracle) i didn't bend any valves or any engine damange. I guess i just got really really lucky cuz the b18 has interference so i should have done some damage
