Default ES100 or Hankook

im in the market for summer tires and i need a suggestion on 2 different set of tires. both are similiar in costs and the car is street driving. I am not concerned with wet traction as long as it grips on dry surface. my old set of tires are the azenis rt-215 but sadly they're discontinued and very difficult to find.

It all depends on what you're looking for.

Disclaimer: I haven't tried the Hankook tire and haven't heard a lot about it.

If you really care the most about dry traction, and you don't care about wet traction or treadwear, then get the new Azenis, which has better dry traction than the ES100. The old Azenis RT-215 have been discontinued because they have been replaced by the new Azenis RT-615, which are available from places like Vulcan Tire and Discount Tire. If you liked the old Azenis, then get the new Azenis.

The advantages of the Yokohama AVS ES100 (over the Azenis) are that they do MUCH better in rain, and they last a LOT longer (2-3 times as many miles), which means that they are much less expensive on a cost-per-mile basis.

So... if your biggest concern is dry traction, get the Azenis. If your biggest concern is cost (and/or wet traction, which you say you don't care about), get the ES100. From what you say, I think the new Azenis RT-615 might be your best bet.

A couple other tires that are roughly the same price and have done well in side-by-side comparison tests by the Tire Rack (which you can find on their website) are the Fuzion ZRi and the Avon Tech M500. I don't know how they compare for treadwear, though.

Again, I don't know anything about the Hankook...
