Default Brake Light is ON

Hi, Im new to the site and I have a question regarding my Brake light being on. Even though I have the e-brake down sometimes the red brake light warning light stays on. . . Does this brake light have any connection to the front brakes or is there something wrong with the e brake. BTW I have a 2000 GSR and weather is at a freezing lvl

Sorry but One more thing. My clucth pedal is making a squeak noise when I press it down. Any solutions to fix this noise?

Regarding the warning light for the e-brake, it's nothing to worry about, just unplug the electrical connector going to the e-brake and it'll stay off forever.

About the squeaky clutch pedal, its probably a leaking clutch cylinder. I have the same thing, dealer quoted me 308 to replace

take out the armrest console and check if the brake light button isn't being pushed all the time, maybe even adjust it.

I don't know about the squeaky pedal, possible leak? low on fluid recently? look more into that also.

It could be this piece of plastic up under your dash. I forget the exact location, but theres this little blue plastic peice that sits between these 2 pieces of metal. That could be it. Not sure of the exact location, but try looking at that.

I have this same problem. I'm going to check the switch on the e-brake handle first. It's funny, mine goes on when I accelerate. When it's on, pulling the e-brake has no effect on the light. Then it usually goes off when I hit the brakes and then back on when I accelerate again. After driving for about 5 minutes it goes off and stays off. Spooky

the brake light does that in my car too... when it's cold i guess it takes like a while to "warm up" or something then it turns off... definitly the sensor.

I searched "brake light" and got 102 threads. Most say the problem is the float switch in the reservoir. First check the fluid level. If it's full, then un-plug the switch and see if that fixes it. If it does, then you can try to clean the switch to get it to operate better or get a new one.

Check your fluid leve first of all. If it's low, check your brake pads. If all is ok then check the switch at the handbrake lever.

Get out the WD40!! If the squeak is in around the pedal, it's just the pivot points, clips or springs making noise Get a look in under the dash, spray in a bit of WD40 around the pivots and springs and work the pedal until the noise stops. No $308 spent.

AzninGSR - A leak won't cause a squeak, either you had both a leak and a squeak or somebody was bullshittin you

That's what the dealer says, so I'm not sure. How do I check if my cylinder is bad or if the dealer just wants my $308? BTW, the dealer messed up the wiring on my fogs, and the abs light is on all the time now.... make them fix it I will

I've had this problem...it's pretty stupid. You open up the big resvoir and you move the spacer looking cylinder, it usually gets stuck up there since it's not lubed by the brake fluid

yeah go under and check if your e-brake is stuck to the wheel or something, it might be frozen.
