missed 4th hit 9500
went to race a firebird had him beat by about a car then missed getting it into 4th and hit 9500 on a stock gsr head, do you think i could of done any thing to the motor. my teg shakes now but i also just droped it right befor the race, do yall think it is the motor or the drop. thanks
it happens to the best of us i did the same thing shifted into second instead of 4th and it hit about 95k, in an ls though, so if it didnt hurt anything on it im sure your gsr will be fine. if the steering wheel is shaking its probably a steering or suspension problem.

well actually it wouldnt because shifting to 2nd at 80mph is going to cause the motor to shoot right past rev-limiter. what would save you is the block into the gear, but when you slam the **** out of the shifter (like when racing) you can get it into gear.
turn your car on and listen for any ticking noises if you hear anything , pull the valve cover off and check all your retainers and clearances

got the head off today and sure enough had bent valves and a **** load of carbon build up. poured water in to all of my exhaust valves and only my #4 cylinder held water in it. droped it off at the machine shop today $125 for valve job plus $12 per each bad exhaust valve and $9 for each intake valve that is bad
if anything you might have bent a couple of valves, it wouldnt cause your car to shake. You might have gotten lucky and just got away with it this time, do a compression test to make sure though.
Edit : sorry didnt see the other posts, im an idiot, but sorry about your valves man.

I did the same thing last nite. missed and went all the way to 8200 rpms on a LS. It ran fine today though, no weird sounds or anything coming from the head, but ive heard stories of peoples engines exploding after like 300-600 miles after a miss.
