ok well i just bought my vehicle . it comes with a b16 swap . i bought it without being smoged . i need to smog it . when he tried to ssmog it . it passed everything exept the MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT !!!! i need to pass this car asap . i havent tried to pass it yet but the guy who sold it to me sai it failed that because i have a itr ecu and something else in the engine needs to be changed . i believe he said that by doin that it would be converted to a different OBD . what would you guys recomend me to do when goin to go get my ride smogged ? i mean it did pass the sniffer and visual . is their any smog place where they only use the sniffer ? help me out please . do i have to get smogged in the same city as where i live or in the county where i live ? i live in solano county here in northern cali (in between sacramento and san francisco) . thanks in advance .....

save yourself the trouble and get some bootleg smog jobs.

Obviously it wasn't a simple howdy do fix, or else he would have smogged it alreay. And if you haven't smogged it, how do you know it passed the visual and sniffer. He might be yankin' your chain.

Oh and the smog does not have to be performed in the city you reside in. I have my smogs done like an hour away.

 

well i know it passed the emission and visual because he gave me the paper work that shows he took the car to try to get smoged 3 days before i purchased the vehicle .

i just spoke to the guy who sold me the vehicle . he said that i need a oil pump from a usdm b16 (99 00 si civic) and i also need a usdm ecu . he said that with a ex 97 civic ecu we might be able to pass it . does this stuff sound true ?
