Default Is my clutch master/slave cylinder going out?

How do you tell if your clutch master or slave cylinder is going out? I ask because i thought my clutch was going out, it was sorta sputtering in high gear low rpm, so i had it replaced with a exedy racing clutch. And now it doesn;t do it as much but it still does it. What does everyone think?

seems it would do the opposite (sputter in low gear high rpm)
if the cylinder was going it would only effect shifting not after you were in gear

Ok, so what would my problem be then if it is not the master clutch cylinder?
