side airbag light
my fiance and i just bought an 01 V6 EX coupe last week... and the car was honda certified... today, she noticed that the side airbag light came on and went out a few times. hasn't stayed on but for whatever reason it comes on and then goes out.
when we bought the car, there was a slight tear in the leather, and honda fixed that before we bought it. rather than sewing, they filled it with a putty or bondo type substance. any chance in fixing that they may have knocked a sensor or something?
i only ask this because i wanted to hear some opinions before i called honda to let them know. we didnt get any extended warranty on the vehicle. thanks for any thoughts or advice.

If you drive around with anything on the passengers seat it will usually cause the side airbag light to go on and off. The sensor in the passengers seat will misread objects in the seat as a person not sitting correctly in the seat and will turn off the side airbag. As long as the light goes off, and the main red SRS light stays off you shouldn't have any problems.
Also if you she has a cell phone in the car with her this can mack the light go on and off. The electrical interferance will mess with the sensor. If shes setting her perrs or a small bag ont he seat it will miss read it and turn the light on.
Also, if you are a complete idiot like me, and you leave the sunroof open when it rains, your seats will get soaked, and this can cause problems with the side airbag light going on and off until they dry out. Took a few days in my case...
Makes me wonder if your recent purchase had any water damage...???
