Default stainless steel welding question

im going to be welding stainless steel. i have a lincoln mig welder. what would i need in order to weld stainless steel? any help would help. thanks

You will need a bottle of Tri-Mix and stainless wire matched to the base metel. and dont for get the stainless Steel wire brush and that should be about it make sure its nice adn clean and watch your heat it warps real easy.

You could use a bottle of C25, but if you're going to buy gas anyway just get a bottle of argon.
As far as wire- grab a spool of .035" 308L. It's one of the most versitile for welding stainless.
You won't need to brush anything as long as you're working with 3-series stainless since it doesn't oxidize. (Well, it does but only after being exposed to the atmosphere for about 5 years, and not any noticable amount).

You'll need the correct stainless wire. You'll also need the correct gas, and for MIG, that's prrrrrrrobably a CO2 and argon mixture. If you care anything about the entire piece being stainless, and you're welding correctly, you'll have a Y adaptor and a tube and some rig, cardboard or something, to properly back the other side.

how thick is the metal you are going to be welding. you will get much better penetration using Helium rather than straight Argon.
if you are welding very think material, shouldn't be much of a concern.
