Default Problems with the way my Accord is running!

Two weeks ago I refueled my '92 Accord EX (it has 121k miles). I drove 1/4 mile or so and while accelerating the car was hestitated, lost acceleration power and stalled. I had it towed to my mechanic. He replaced the distributor and it ran well for a day. It exhibited the same problem minus the stalling out. I took it back and the fuel filter was replaced (last replacement was at 82k miles). It still is exhibiting the same problem only worse now. I replaced the air filter becuase it was filthy. The timing chain was also replaced at 82k miles. Could it be the timing chain, fuel line, fuel pump, tranny? Any clues? Thanks.

This happened right after refueling? Could be bad gas or diesel.

Hi Phil, I'm still having the same problem - hesitation when accelerating from stop to abot 20 - 30 mph. After that it's fine. As I stated on my original post, I had the distributor and fuel filter replaced. I changed the air filter and the plugs. I'm reading thru my Haynes Auto Repair book and see in the troubleshooting section: Engine stumbles on acceleration. Any clues what exactly that might mean? For this symptom they say causes could be: fouled plugs (replaced them), fuel injector system faulty, fuel filter clogged (relaced it but will check for new dirt/clog), incorrect ignition timing, intake manifold air leak. What's your opinion.

If it happened right after fueling your car then It is most likely bad gas. Put some fuel system treatment in and it should take care of the problem.

sounds like you have plugged egr ports. it costs 180 to get them cleaned and unplugged the right way.
