Thinking About Buying An R (please help)
It seems as though I am now contemplating whether to get an R or a 98 camaro SS. My only problem is that I have only read about the R. Dont get me wrong, I've been around long enough to hear/read all about what the R can do, and all i've heard are excellent comments. There is just one problem, I have never driven one. What makes this situation worse is that no dealers have any left, so test driving is out of the question. I am asking one simple favor, and that is someone show me the R at a closer view. I am NOT asking to drive anyones R, I am just asking someone to let me ride in the passanger seat. If someone feels kind enough to allow me to be a passanger in their R to better give me an idea of the car I'm ready to purchase, I'm located around Diamond Bar, Pomona, Chino, and I go to Cal Poly Pomona.
As of now, I'm 80% sure that my car is going to be sold and I've been shopping constantly for cars. I've narrowed down my decision to four cars. First off being the R, secondly the M3 (96-98), and finally the 98 camaro SS/firebird ws6. The biggest factor that will cause me to buy one is going to be the price (being that they all perform well in their own respects.) This brings me to my other question. What are good prices for an R both the 97-98 models and the 2000-2001? I am looking for a completely stock R with under 50k miles.
Thanks for putting up with my new car buying worries/antics.
Sorry, just in case the cities didnt give it away, I'm in southern california.

Don't kid yourself, if the choices are between the SS, M-3 and R?
Go for the F*ckin M-3 man! I mean if you can afford it then get the best.
Or howsabout just go get a ride in an R and then an M-3. I hope your mind will be made up for itself. I hope.

yeah, but the M3 also ends up owning you...it's not a cheap car, initially or to maintain. the R is almost as much fun, very similar spirit, for a whole hell of a lot less. If you want to drag race, get the SS...if you want to really drive (
), get the R, or the M3 if it's a PRACTICAL decision for you. Alot of people get cars that they can't really afford, and then REALLY regret it when their credit is shot to hell and they have to give up their ride. I'd offer you a ride, but i'm a bit far away...you can take a leap of faith with an R tho, it's a thing of beauty.

Man, you gonna come on an ITR forum, and ask what car to get?
Anyways, just totally forget about the Camaro, and the Firebird. Stick between the M3, and ITR. I've driven both car, and find the M3 to be extremly comfortable and quick. I personally like driving my ITR better, because it's more fun to drive, and I lvoe whipping turns, and losing people on the highway.

ITR : thief magnet in California (and rest of the US).
M3: nice car, but too luxorious IMO.
SS: hope you like drag racing.
If I were you, I'd get an M3... especially since you're in Cali. and it'll be your daily ride. I'd only get an ITR in your shoes, if you can afford a daily driver + an ITR. G'luck

Don't count out the Firebird WS6. The car is a beast. But out of all the cars you listed, I'd go for the M3 hands down. If you have the money...by all means go for it! Luxury and performance...what more can you ask for?
