I had the exact same problem with my 84 Supra after My brother in law put on a new timing belt. Its always a good idea to check the timing and timing belt when you put in a new motor.</TD></TR></TABLE>
That sounds about right..

would you say you can describe your problem as a bogging/choking effect?... if so it may not just be the timing belt... from how you're describing it, it sounds like the usual bogging problems some people come accross from time to time...
ive read alot of people solve this problem from various areas, from a simple ecu reset to having to buy new knock/o2 sensors...
more cases then not though, timing did help improve the problem if not solve it... timing belt could be good but your distributor could be misplaced or retarded... usually after people have swapped engines or have had shops swap it out, in some cases when moving the distributor around, people forgot to jump the service connector or else the ecm will automatically adjust the timing...
hehe i guess just try getting a timing light first and see where you are at... should be at 15 deg i believe? just something simple to try out first
