How do i go about changing my tranny fluid?

Follow that, but instead of filling it from the side bolt, take off the vehicle speed sensor at the back of the tranny and fill it from there using a long neck funnel.

cuz everytime you change your tranny fluid its time to clean your filter so knock out two birds with one stone (cuz you have to take the intake off to get to the speed sensor)....or atleast its that way down here in texas raining all the fucken time....and goin to the beach

I find it much easier to fill from the speed sensor location. To each his own I guess.

hmm
u guys fill the tranny alot different then me
i drained with the normal drainhole.. and filled it right up top of the tranny... theres a lil tit sticking out of the tranny with a rubber plug on the end... i put a peice of rubber on there and then a funnel on that rubber and poured it in
but now that i see this... did i even fill the right spot? lol when u drained the fluid again i did notice it didnt quite match up to the amount i put in... but the color was relatively not as dark as when i first drained it

im thinking it may have been the plug for the flywheel line up...i forgot exactly whats its called..but my golf's tranny had a plug like that also, and pouring fluid in there is really gonna **** something up in there!!
Also .....for older cars when changing trans fluids and especially differential fluids in rear wheel drives cars it's always a good idea to loosen the filler bolt first before you drain. Otherwise if you drain first and then find your filler bolt is seized up for some reason you're f*cked.
I always just fill it from the VSS hole... I don't have to take of my intake or anything either, I have a long funnel...
Takes less than 10 min to change tranny fluid... super duper easy!
Oh, careful not to over tighten the bolt that holds the VSS in place, the first time I changed my fluid I over tightened it and broke the mounting bracket...

I think you're reffering to the tranny breather. I've heard of other people filling through there. You should be fine, they've had no problems.

im about to change the Manual trans fluid for my 94 dx coupe, and the guy at NAPA sold me 2 quarts of 10w 30 motor oil, as he was reading the helms manual or chiltons, i forgot, but he was reading some manual and said its ok to use that as trans fluid for the next 30k or so. will motor oil work great? and will it **** up my trans?
My haynes manual said 10w30 as well. I think it should be fine, but after hearing about that penzoil sync fluid or whatever the hell it's called, i'm going with that. I dont like to skimp when it comes to fluids. Dunno why, i just don t
Don't use the 10w30 that was suggested to you!
Go to Honda and get some real Honda Manual Transmission Fluid, it's different than 10w30 oil and works much better...
There has been a lot of discussions about this but I will give my experience...
I put regular 10w30 oil in my transmission a few years ago because that's what my manual said to put in there... after a few months my shifts became VERY notchy and it would have a hard time going into gear when it was cold outside. I did some reading and learned that MTF has different properties than regular oil. So, I bought some Honda MTF and got rid of the 10w30 oil that was in there... I noticed an instant night and day difference! It shifted sooo much smoother and was not notchy anymore, it would slide right into gear even when it was cold!
Since that experience I have been a firm believer in Honda MTF and recomend it over using regular oil like the Haynes manual suggests. You will have smoother shifts!
Plus, Honda MTF isn't any more expensive than conventional oil, in fact, I think it's cheaper! Oh, and I don't know about other special transmission fluids, but I know that Honda MTF works well so that's what I stick with...

Don't forget to replace the drain-plug & fill washers every time you remove them. Thier only about $.25 each, so buy a bunch the next time you go to honda. The drain plug washer is the same as the oil pan drain plug washer. The fill plug is quite a bit larger...
