Well lets see here:

1. Its not made to go any faster
2. Its called a governor
3. Why would have the need to go that fast?
4. You want to go faster buy a different car
5. Going 115mph anywhere

damn...thats one fucked up trap speed for a car that runs 17's...cause thats the only way i can see that car going 115, unless your racing it in a Stock Car Oval track race...in which case your just a little bit less gay than doing 115 on the freeway

it wont go any faster because whitout serious power upgrades/ weight reduction, the engine cat overcome the friction/wind resistance at that speed

Is that the top speed because:

1. Your hitting the rev limiter in 5th gear?

2. Your not, hence it's drag limited at that speed?

3. Or It has a governor on it?

lx non-vtec engines top out at 115, ex vtec engines do not top out.......I have learned this from experience and from other people.

well if he has a jet ECU chip, the governor is most likley disabled. the most likely reason you cant get past that speed is cuz your accord just doesnt make enough power to overcome the tremendous air resistance at this speed

well my 94 accord ex can, lx american tops out at about 80 mph, sucks when your trying to pass grandma on the highway and can't, sure its plenty fast, but a little bit faster would be nice!!

all i did was install a intake (i know thats not going to make no difference really) haha

any ideas why i can't go any faster, even like 5-10mph faster, just enough to pass if your on the highway, in the passing zones!
seems to me a stock accord should be able to push a little more then 80mph?

Are 5th gen LXs that slow? my 4th gen LX pulls just fine above 80. non-vtec and all.
Don't know it's top speed though.

Well given that my old 93 Civic LX would do 100, I seriously doubt that a 5th gen LX Accord tops out at 70 or 80. There's no way.

no, my 4th gen lx pulls prety hard up to about 100 . . . then dies even harder

i have 5 hp less than them . . . but thier car is about 100 pounds heavier . . . i dunno, if you cant top 70, then your tranny prolly cant shift out of 3rd (this is assuming you have an auto of course)

it is an auto, she revs out at 5500rpm and won't shift and keeps bogging at that till you let off and kick it back down again and then she will shift no problem!!

but it just won't go any faster then like 70mph!!

no i havent, isn't that really hard on a auto tranny?! haha

i would really like to do a swap for a manual tranny though, i always wanted a standard!! but i figure that will cost some thousands of dollars, so its probbaly cheaper to buy a new car? haha

also my car has no power at all, if im at a dead stop and i mash the gas, and its on ice, the car won't spin thats how much power it has!! it sucks!!

and i just has a tune up, new plugs, wires, rotor button, distrubitor cap!!
well some what of a tune up, i wanted my fuel filter changed but they couldn't get at it or something?!

Pointless thread. Read the rules. asking how to raise your top speed in your already ridiculously slow car is stupid and frowned upon.

Post reported.

Damn I need a ban button

I would think it was not the diff but more like the torque converter or the flow bodies.

could be that as well, i had heard of the TCU becoming screwed up by manually shifting your auto for some reason . . .thats why i had asked taht question, but if his transmission is acting up then he might as well start saving for a manual swap cuz sooner or later it just wont work anymore at all

I shift mine manually and have never had a problem. Been doing it ever since I got it. If you do it properly then it's fine.

its not ok tho, your auto tranny wasnt meant to be shifted manually. i hate when people try to argue this . . . if it was meant to be shifted it would be a manual or a tiptronic

you accord wont go past 116mph because you have a speed governor on it. the lx's came with a speed governor. you shouldn't be going that fast anyways.

well, i just found out my cars(95 LX) top speed last nyte and by the way the engine felt at 115MPH it is a governor, but since u have a chip in ur car...it cud just be ur car cant go any faster, tho i doubt cuz im sure the accord without governor can probably atleast hit 125 on the freeway..does it feel like the engine is being cut off? if so then its a spped governor
