ok well i drove it around again today to hear it, it seems to only occur when im at rly low rpms around 1000-1500 and it sounds as if some kind of metal piece is loose and it's rattling against something. If u have any ideas please let me know.

LOL I have this problem a while back when I owned a LS. GO to any places and they'll cut off a piece of metal that's loose under your car. It's somewhere under teh driver on the muffler.

maybe it's something stupid like the heat shield to your cat... like mine... just go under the car for the initial inspection..

it doesn't necessarily have to FEEL loose to be loose. I know mine was loose, and rattling like crazy, but I could not move it loosely with my hands. I just had a shop replace the heatshield.

got 97 gsr, same sound, bugging the livving **** out of me, especially when u drive girls around.= (
Anyways, if its a loose heatshield, wouldnt it always vibrate when the car is on? instead of only at certain rpm, or if its a hot or cold day?

No, The RPM's cause different frequency's of sound which makes things vibrate. Like on my drumset, When i hit certain drums, the snares will rattle while when i hit some other drums, they wont. Or Bass in a car. Some bass pitches will make the lisence plate rattle, while others dont.

I have personally had three rattles in my car. The first and most annoying is the Infamous "curse of the GSR" The rattle that happens around 3000-3400 rpm's. It is in the Header, so once you replace that it will go away. I dont beleive that is in the heatshield.

The next happened in high rpm's (vtec) and was somewhere in my stock cat-back exhaust. I replaced that with my friends old GSR exhaust and that rattle went away.

The third was more or less a grind, and was a bad transmission bearing.

If the rattle is tingy, it is more or less jus something loose, like a heat shield or the header problem, or somethign like that. Where if it sounds internal, it could be your transmission.

well it sounds like thin metal hitin against other metal, i dont think it's the header because i juss put in a comptech header, so u think its most likely the cat? i'll check everything tomorrow but i jus wana get ur opionons

I have the same sound when im idling. I can only hear it when im outside the car. Reminds me of an empty can with the tab inside rattling around.

Have a rattling noise that is very similar. Told it is the heat shield on the cat. One of the most common problems with Integras. Take it off, and don't park on any high dry grass or leaves and you will be fine.

My friends Integra was the same way
His was a 93 ls, when he Idle you can hear a rattling sound.
You should check your alternator belt, its prolly loose, if it is then tighten it.
