Is my timing belt too loose? *video*
In the process of inspecting my new motor after about 1000 break in miles. Timing belt looks like it might be a tad loose, but I dont have anything to compare it to. Im running a 2 layer gasket so I cant just tighten the tensioner to stock. Its definitely a bit more loose than when I first installed it, which I guess is to be expected, but Im not sure if its too loose.

Looks to be about a half-inch deflection, +/- a little.
If you are running cams with large primaries, ie: Toda B/C, you might want to try to tighten it a little more, just as an extra precaution against the belt skipping a tooth.

the part from the exhaust cam to the crank pulley's tension varies depending on where the engine is at relative to tdc. check to see if the tension between yr cam gears are tight.. that tension won't change. If you are in any doubt, its easy to retension the timing belt.. regardless you should do it anyways.
