Well I came home Thursday night for spring break and about a month ago I set up plans with my friends to go to Englishtown Raceway for yesterday. And damn was it fun. I was able to get seven runs in. I would run, get my slip and get right back on line. I was getting a run in every 20 minutes. I have a 99 LS i/e/gsr tranny. This was with full interior including the spare and everything. So anyway what I'm sure you're all waiting for is my times so here was my best:
r/t: .644
60': 2.336
1/4: 15.826
mph: 85.10
That was my last run which turned out to be my best. My 60ft was what was killing me. Being that it was my first time I was at the track I couldn't get my launching right. Finally though on my last run I started to realize what I was doing wrong. Of course it still wasn't a good 60ft, but it was an improvement on all of my others. With maybe another 2 runs I could have probably gotten it down to 2.1. I figure I should be able to get the car down to a 15.5 with more practice.
My friend with a gsr hatch ran his best time last night with a 14.4 and 2.1 60ft. He had a trap of 96. Previously his best was back in Oct with a 14.8. He'll probably make a post about it in the civic forum or somewhere. Another friend just picked up a Mazdaspeed Protege last week and he ran his too. His best of 3 runs was a 16.0, but again he's only had the car for a week and it was his first time at the track too.
I didn't get to see any other cars run since I just kept getting back on line. But one run I was up against an srt-4 which ran a 13.5 with a 2.1 60ft. There was also an orange Evo there running in the 10s. We had 3 cameras running last night so I'll be able to see what everyone else was doing when I watch them.

Your times look decent, it's good to see someone who is actually running their car at the track
What RPM did you launch at, and what tires were you using?

I'm running on Yokohama Avids. My best run I launched at 4000rpm and feathered the clutch. Before that I had been dropping the clutch at 3000 or 3500, so that's what my problem was. Next time I go, which will hopefully be next friday, I'm going to try launching a little higher to see if that can get my 60ft times down and a better et.

i believe lauching over 4k rpms without slicks will just result in wheel spin

Yea they were spinning, but no where near as bad when I was dropping it at 3k. I would grab traction by 5000. When I was dropping it, I wouldn't grab until I hit 2nd gear. If I do go again next week I plan on expirementing so more until I get that 15.5. My goal for last night had been a 15.7, but I know it can definatly do better than that.
Once I watch the videos of all of my runs I'll be able to give you guys more of a breakdown on how far and **** I was spinning and all that fun stuff.

Yep, I've had the car for 11 months and have loved every day of it. Pretty funny too because I was so anti-Honda before I bought this.

Next week I plan on stripping out the rear seats and taking out the spare and stuff and expirementing with the tire pressures some more. And yes it is definatly a lot more fun to do it legal. About 2 months ago I got nailed for street racing, even though I just came to watch. Long story short cop assaulted both me and my friend, gave me 2 tickets and now I have to go to court
Also forgot to mention I got some oem rear valances while I was there realy cheap
