Rear Crossmember for P/S
Do I have to swap the crossmember to install Power Steering?
I looked at over 100 threads.
I found a few people who said the rear crossmember would need changed but in the 90-93 Integra (DA) section those guys are swapping CRX racks onto their cars to get rid of P/S and not swapping subframes.
So, the question is, has anyone ACTUALLY put a P/S rack on a non P/S 88-91 EF?
Before I run out and waste money on a crossmember I might not need, I'd like to hear from someone who knows for sure because they've done it.
For all the people who will say, "too much weight," "lose horsepower," or "grow some muscles" I say, DA racks are quicker ratio than CRXs and if you still can't get over it, go start a thread on which front lip looks best so it can become 5 pages long.

I'd be interested in knowing this also... I love my non-p/s rack on my CRX, but it would be a nice mod to put on a p/s rack if I had the room.
Do you have a swap? Or are you running stock internals?

So you basically want to know if you can add a P/S rack to your non-P/S car correct? If so then yeah as long as you get the P/S pump and such it can bolt on. I dont know what the ratios are exactly but civic hatches come with P/S and I have swapped a non P/S rack into that so its only obvious that it would work the other way as well. The one thing I wouldnt be sure of though is if the DA P/S rack would bolt on or not? But again if you can bolt the CRX non-P/S rack onto a DA why wouldnt it fit?
*EDIT* If you have a donor car with P/S it would make it much easier cause then you have everything to transfer it over.

The real question is do I need to swap crossmembers to have P/S?
Yeah, I have a B swap. I still have the pump and I bought some LX Civic hoses and reservior.
I did not grab the LX crossmember.

Hmmm? When I swapped them out I swapped the entire crossmember so I couldnt tell you if it will bolt up to your current one sorry. If anything just take some measurements where the P/S racks bolts up and see if it matches I dont think your going to find too many people that added P/S you know? If I had an extra one lying around (used to) I would have measured it up for you.
very interested....i've got a 4 door with p/s and i may want to:
1. keep the powersteering WITH a b-series swap and b-series pump with my stock lines?
or
2. convert to non-powersteering using a non-powersteering rack WITH b-series swap. are the rear cross-members different?
any info would help!!!
