Default Oh how yummy looking...

Well since my engine is torn apart, I decided to bring my Toda mani home tonight, unwrap it and check its condition. Just as I thought it would be, no problems whatsoever. So for those that say, you can't wrap stainless, LOOK AT THE FOLLOWING PICS. The mani was wrapped from day 1 of installing and has seen about 14000miles on it. My old EK4 and EG9 had a Feel's mani on it and combined it saw about 60000miles and is still going strong, and it too was wrapped. So if the piece is made of quality stainless, you really should have no problem. None of my cars have ever been garage queens, I beat the living **** out of them, well as much as I can, since I have no true circuit to drive on.

Anyways on to the pics...

Well it won't come from under the wrap looking like that. I cleaned it up a bit, removing the discoloration, my point was that no cracking whatsoever. Quality stainless will not crack like a mild steel or worse yet a cast iron piece.

cleaning's not so bad. no cracking, no big scrapes, and it looks like new... it looks good. quality piece i've a toda header as well. may not look as blingy wrapped, but if protected for the long term, in addition to the benefits of having cooler engine bay temps, it might be worthwhile for me to do before i throw things on. (which is what i was thinking)

anywho, good stuff

edit: schwing, toda header arrived today

Just get the header Jet Coated - best of all worlds, cooler underhood temps, prevents tarnish and your not covering the header with the wrap

I thought the main problem with wrap was getting water in ther that doesnt burn off, and begins to corrode the metal?

Well, this header is stainless so it should not corrode, mild steel and header wrap on the other hand is not a good idea

I was looking at getting my JUN header coated. From what I hear from MattJ (dropspeed) he said the coating wasn't a good idea. He had his Mugen header heat coated by DART (the same Gold coating they use on pistons) and he said it cracked and wasn't a good idea. I dunno, I never really talked to him more about it...I'll just stick to the good old cheap DEI exhaust wrap.
