Default To burn out or not to burn out?

I am just wondering, on BFG drag radials, is a stop in the water box necessary? I am running 205/50/15 and have an open diff. will I actaully benefit from a burnout?
TIA

Burnout will benefit you... just don't take a trip to the waterbox. It's intended use is for slicks. But smoke the radials a little bit.

So burn them dry, and thats good enough. I used to use the box every time and was cutting 2.1 2.2 60fts. I am just trying to get a little better 60's. Any recommended length of burnout or just until I get a little bit of smoke?

Roll through the box and just spin them a few revolutions to clean them off

No need for a big hairy burnout...

I roll through the box to get them wet and then smoke them a bit at 13psi. Cleans and heats the tires up. I'm sure 1.9's are in the near future with some practice but I've only gotten 2.0's thus far. BFG's are great!

The bfg are designed to work when extremly hot 180 degrees. I usually pull up in the water box spin them pull out yank the e-brake and do a second gear burn out. Till they are smoking pretty good. Then stage and off I go. I have been pulling 1.9's doing it that way.

What is your suggestion for tire pressure cold? I've tried 13 psi cold and yielded the best results.

I was told not to take them below 18psi. Last week at e-town I was getting a lot of wheel hop for some reason. I dropped them down to 15psi but no lower. Some people say they run as low as ten but I have never gone below 15.

I was running 18psi cold last season, is that way too high? I dropped it to 15psi and tried that (when I was first trying out the tires) and I seemed to lose speed and time.
So I should get big smoke/or not? more input please. I do like the fact that you are running BFG's and getting 1.9. Any one else actually using these please input.

i ran them all last year. burn outs were always a problem for me because i would end up pulling the back tires along. i was still able to pull consistant 1.96-1.98 60' times but traction from there till third gear was non existant. i talked to a couple other people and they say as soon as you see smoke your good. i think i seen smoke once. at my local track theres no way around the mater so i pull a little past it and start my burn out. i made these runs with 12psi in the tires(since thats the loest reccomended tire pressure according to BFG.http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com...Hints)

On my RWD miata I ran my BFGs at 11psi for 3 years with no problems. I did a very big burnout, to the point that you could not see the back end of the car.
Hooked 1.5s, 1.6s! 60fts! Had traction problems in 2nd and 3rd gear once I was making alot of steam.

Not all Miatas are open diff..
I ran a stock 95 Miata Diff with a KAAZ LSD.
Car was Turbo (T3/T4 50 Trim) and Nitrous. Made almost 500hp at the rear wheels.
Tranny lasted about 4-5 passes.. Stock axles about 25 passes.
