for the past 2months or so when i get around 3k RPM and to about 5k RPM i hear what seems like a high pitched rattle like a chainsaw almost, it doesnt always happen though usually after i drive for a while it goes away. I think it might be a heatshield rattling or something in my catalytic converter but im not sure what do u guys think

 

where does it seem like it is coming from?

 

when i had my car jacked the other day my friend got under and when i revved it until it rattled he said he thought it was coming from around the catalytic converter area

 

Most likely it's the heat shield,It's a commen problem and a easy fix. Just rip it off.

 

As stated, sounds like a portion of the heatshield, just snip off the bad portion with tin snips. It's such an annoying sound.
