Anybody have pics a crx with plexi glass windows?
spring i am putting plexi in my rex. nice weight savings and try breakin those out as easy to the bastards who stole my car stereo last time. i know someone who owns a glass company soo it will be free. u dont need a rivet gun if you are just doin the door windows and the rear driver and passenger sides. just fit them into the stock brackets. if u r doing the windsheilds then u will have to rivet more than likely because of the fact that plexi isnt as sturdy as the glass. i wouldnt advise plexi for front and back though. it scratches easy and visibility isnt as good. i also dont think that street cars are legally able to have plexi windshields.
dont use plexiglass it scratches, get flexan, i forgot what kind but theres 1 type that is scratch resitant. Fal makes a kit for the ef and crx but it goes for like 500 bucks but its already cut to size and painted so you can put it on just as you would a regular window. If you do it yourself just cut the flexan to size, paint it then rivet it into place, but make sure your consistent with the spacing around the window.

Thats the flexan site and they have links on there for all their US distributors. You can also get a type of flexan at home depot, i cant remember which one it is but what u want to get is the scratch resistant stuff, if you really dont care you could just get the cheapo lexan stuff and just tint the window dark as hell.

hmmm... i didnt think it was legal to use these on the street.
im considering them for my daily driver, the only windows id do is the rear 2 maybe the hatch but not sure, my only beef would probably be when winter time comes, my car would be damn cold!
not a crx but a 4g- check this.. http://home.earthlink.net/~evm/4g.html
scroll through the pics.. we just picked up some lexan at home depot, used the stock glass as a template, and screwed it in.. easy. no leaks, strong, and saved some serious weight. we're doing the rear glass now.
don't use plexi.. not safe at all..

all out drag car? or do you guys drive it around town? does it hold heat in the winter time? does it scratch? what grade lexan did you guys get?

it's more of an all around car with a focus on roadracing. it is a daily driver but getting a little more uncomfortable as we go along. right now it's gutted and we're installing an IT style 6 point DOM cage. we're building a poormans itr on the side that should go in midsummer. heat isn't a problem.
the lexan is off the shelf stuff from home depot (think it's 1/8"?) and pretty scratch resistant. we're gonna save some serious weight losing the rear glass..
i think the lexan was under 40 bucks a window.. i know we found the rear piece on sale later on. check it out at home depot. if you mean is it drafty or anything- no it's not. we took a road trip in it and i sat in the back, leaned my head against the window and fell asleep- it was pouring out.
there is a slight curve but we oversized it a bit to give it a slight bow.. if you want it to come out cleaner than ours, i'd go with a thicker piece.. you can see the small indentation where the screws hold it in. we were really too concerned about looks. i'll link you up to some photos in a few days.. off to snowboard and go karting in montreal..

Pretty cool. Looks like some pretty good weight savings. I know my crx trunk hatch is so dam heavy it could kill you if it fell down, especiallywith the bad lift struts. It must be like 50lbs...I am feeling the swap too.
