Installing 89 si cluster in a dx hatch
Im installing an 89 si cluster on a friends 89 hatch dx and have some questions. I was told this was a direct plug and play. There are two plugs for the dx cluster and only one for the si. How does that work? Do we need extra parts to do the swap. Any help would be killer. Thanks in advance

That site no longer exists or is under construction. Or maybe my computer just sucks. If you can copy and paste the direct link, please do. I cant figure this out. Thanks again

i tried installing it last night and i guess it does have two plugs. im an idiot!! But, the install still didnt work. In the middle of the back of the si cluster (over the light bulbs) there is a plastic piece with a blue plug and the dx (4speed) doesnt have a plug for that one. When we turn the car over, the check engine light was on, the tach didnt work, and none of the start up lights came on (oil, bat, seat belt etc.). I was told this was plug and play. What do i need to complete this install and make it work? PLEASE HELP!!!

There are 2 different Si cluster out there. Make sure you get the one that makes the mfg of your car. The 2 styles are NS and ND.
I kill the spelling on this, but here goes:
ND- Nippon Denzo
NS- Nippon Seikki

How can i tell which one it is? I dont know much about efs, but there are two plugs in the back. one on each side, but there is one in the middle too. Its a smaller blue plug. There is no plug on my friends car for the middle one. When we tried it, the tach didnt work and the check engine light came on. Non of the other lights worked either. example: seat belt, brake and all that crap. Whats the middle blue plug and why doesnt his car have this? His car is the basic model, dx 4-speed. HELP! What does he need?

Easy! At the bottom of the speedometer there will be a little stamping with either NS or ND. Just make sure they are the same mfg for it to work properly.

Are you sure its an 89 Civic Si cluster? The 89 crx Si cluster WILL NOT work with any Civic model. If you plug in an 88 CRX Si cluster into an 89 Crx Si only half of the cluster will work. I know this from experience with selling and testing Si clusters to sell on ebay. Easiest way to identify an 89 Crx si cluster from an 89 civic si cluster is the seatbelt warning on the crx cluster is between the fuel and temp gauges. If possible snap some pics of the cluster and I can tell you what model it came from. hth
