I've heard that those ballasts blow out really easily.

i have those hid's and i like them, it depends if they are are the gen 4 or gen 3 ballasts, the gen 4 ones are fine, but the pre gen 4's break easily...

go with Osram, philips, or matsushita ... i had a osram & philips on my car ....or any late gen OEM ballast and you can search "rebased HID" on "weebay" for modified HID bulbs to fit your bulb type...GOOD~LUCK!

okay, here's my .02 cents.

I've got a BMW x5 retrofit in my Lexus, and I've had friends with McCullough (sp?).

Within 6 months, the McCullough ballast went dead. Couldn't replace it because everyone was selling the whole kit , and no extra ballasts were available. Their stuff is crap, not genuine Phillips, Hella, Osram, etc etc.

Only buy brand name HID stuff. Hella, Phillips, Osram, basically same thing. Top names in the field. If you ever blow a ballast, you can find a replacement easily, same with bulbs. I've noticed that the McCullough kits don't even use Phillips bulbs either. Sucks.

I'll be working on an Audi TT HID retrofit into my EG real soon. For $200-$300, you can find a better OEM or phillips kit that will last a very very long time. Trouble free.

edit: my friend had the GEn 4 McCullough that blew out. He actually bought it off a group buy here.
