87 Honda Accord Alternator
I have to replace my alternator, never done it before, and I got it unbolted and now I can't get the old one out. I have taken off hoses and removed the air intake but still can't fir it through anywhere. Can anyone give me some suggestions to the easiest way to do this? Do I have to go from the bottom?
Thanks
Thanks
Is that the only way to do it? I'm in my garage with basic tools, and don't really want to start taking things off that I might not be able to put back on. Or is taking off the axel relatively straight forward?
The book says to take the axle out, but you do not need to do that. If it's EFI just take the airbox out and you can manuver the alt out through there. If it's carb'd then slide it across the bottom over to the passenger side, and you'll probably have to take the airbox off again and the intake tubing and everything, but it should be able to come up through there (may have to move the vacuum lines around a little). The EFI ones are easier than the carb'd... EFI I can have one out in 20 minutes or so. It's really not that hard once you see how it comes out
Just wanted to say thanks for the tip......I was able to feed it through to the passenger side with removing very little, and able to put the new one through quite easily. Anyway, thanks again for your help.
