Default Whats the best harness to use in a 1gen crx carb for b16a?

Some people say 1g si and run the extra wires/extend where necessary, others say 88-89 teg, or 88-91 civic/crx.... What do most of you carb dudes do? Im kinda a noob on the 1g and want to gain experience...

PS, im thinking the 1g si is the best... it just seems logical. It has the same climate control, and accesories in the interior. If you used the integra stuff you will likely have to convert over to the teg interior, right?

PPS, do the 1g clusters intermix? I wouldnt think so, just askin...

help a poor 1g illeterate bastard out, thanks

I do and I am turning my 1g CRX DX (carb'd) into fuel injection right now.

Easiest approach. If you got 84-85 (carb'd) use 85 CRX SI.

If you got 86-87 CRX (carb'd) use 86-87 CRX SI. I guess the connectors are different (can't verify).

Don't know much of Civic I know the wiring is similar except for the dash.

The route I am taking. I pulled out all the wiring out of a 85 CRX SI and pulled out the fuel tank, fuel pump (everything under the car) grabbed the fuel line that is going towards the motor (so it can hold higher pressure) but have heard that this is not needed. Fuel Filter bracket and filter itself in the engine compartment.

Now I need to pull it out of my 85 CRX DX. And put the fuel injected stuff in.

If you use the integra wiring you will need to cut and splice connectors no need to swap over the interior.

I have heard of people using EF and DC wiring. They just laid it out in the car and cut and spliced.

Fuel tanks vary in size I believe the 86-87 CRX SI came with an additional Gallon.

Clusters I belive do intermix (for CRX's anyways) The HF cluster come with VSS which is needed for the speedo to work with a 88-89 Integra motor or anything newer. You can also use integra or EF clusters to take the vss part off and swap it on to a 84-87 CRX cluster.

For the b16a swap. You will need about a 1000 dollars worth of parts just to drop it in in the first place totally different mounting points. This is only parts.
(custom axles, mount kit, etc.)

Wiring up B16a. Well to begin with 1g CRX/3g Civic came with vacuum advance. Compared to more recent use of electronic advance. Lots of wiring is needed. This is the major thing. Other then that add some wires for vtec (if you are going with obdo,1,2 now would be the time to decide)

Can't think of much else any more questions ask away. This topic has been covered plenty of times too

http://www.redpepperracing.com is a good site to check out. Look under the faq section they have an article that tells how to do this.

Grass Motor Sports also has a write up on how to do this.

I have links just got to find them.

Yes, the engine is in... the wiring is whats left... the 1g teg harnes that in it is all cut up from i guess swappin the plugs... Im going to find a si harness from the same year as the car and start from there... From there I know what to do, that wiring isnt that bad. I just needed to know where to start, thanks!!

Well something I just found out, my digicam took a bite on me otherwise I'd post pics of what I mean, I got a 85 CRX SI wiring and 87 Civic Si wiring. I compared the 2 last night and there was a difference with engine bay connectors. But like I stated if you use 85 CRX SI main harness with 85 CRX Si engine harness you should be good. So forth with 86-87.
