Happy ending to a stolen CRX story (kinda long)
I posted that my crx was stolen about a month ago, but I was pretty bummed about it so I basically stopped coming to this site because it seriously bugged me to read about EFs after that. Here's the link

Well the good news is that they found the car last Thursday, with the swap still there!!! They didn't catch the people who did it but I got my car back and everything is panning out pretty well for me.
As far as the major damage heres a list:
-Front bumper and lip are screwed (chewed) up.
-front driver fender has a sizable dent in it
-stock exhaust was ripped off (litterally, not stolen)
-stole my sparco wheel and replaced it with an accord one
-stole my s2k shift ****
-stole the old *** CD player and my stock speakers (wtf!?) the surrounds were separating from the cones. That makes no sense to me, but they broke my center console and climate control doing this. I was already able to fix the climate control.
-broke my driver side headlight trying to steal it.
-ignition is jacked
-from under the hood they took my plug wires, filter, and headlight bulbs
Most of this stuff and other little things that got messed up I can get from here or from the local pull n' save, plus the paint can get re-done by my friend.
From what the cops told me the car was found waaaaaay south of town on some random dirt road that's used to bring illegals to AZ. I guess the person who jacked it was in the middle of doing something illegal (I suspect) and got hung up on a rock. That's why my exhaust was ripped off, from when the tow truck driver go it un-stuck. There are several theories as to what my car was being used for, smuggling illegals, running drugs, someone even suggested smuggling pets. I guess there's money there as silly as it may sound. There were chew marks and my paint was all clawed up so there definitely was a dog in my car. There was also a lot of fur. Personally I beleive it was used to run drugs since the CRX is too small to move illegals efficiently and the dog may have been a protection thing. He was probably pretty big because my driver side mirror is all chewed up and he got in and out through my window (the sill is nothing but scatches). They put over 1000 miles on my car in the month it was stolen if that's any account for anything.
So, on to the insurance co dealings. Let me first say State Farm rocks. I hadn't settled with my them yet because I had to wait an initial 20 days for them to wait and see if the car turned up and after that I had to wait for my title/lein release since I just paid off my loan. They ended up finding my car the day after I got my title in the mail. So after sending receipts and having an adjuster come look at the car they decided to total it (no surprise). Today I got the call and they are going to give me $4180 for it. Less my deductable ($500) and less the buy back ($420). Yup I'm getting it back.
along with a check for $3260. Of which I get only $260. (long story but I bought an 05 350z while all this was going on). But I get my car back and nurse it back to 100%. I'm so glad to get this car back. Now for the dirty pics. These are from Saturday.

These are from tonight. The car really grossed me out when I got it back. So I disinfected everything with 409 and febreezed the whole interior. Then I cleaned the outside to get a good look at the damage. Just a zillion scratches, and that's probably an accurate number. The only dent is the one on the driver side fender.

TIght dood! Insurance rocks! I can't believe they were willing to go to 4 grand, most only go to 3500 at the max for a CRX.. usually its 2500.

Those are pics of my old CRX, the recovered chassis with all my parts on it, and it repaired. I never saw a dime from anyone tho, but it only took $1000 to get it back to lookin nice.

Glad it worked out.
Me just being paranoid...if it was used for drug running, there might be a possibility of remnants, trace amounts, hidden stashes etc. still in the vehicle. It would really suck if six months from now, some drug sniffing dog goes apeshit when it passes your car. It gets searched, you get busted. "it's not mine..." never works.
See if the officers involved in your recovery can't arrange a once over with a K-9 unit, just to be safe.

I feel sooooo ******* lucky. I really wish that everyone could get their cars back. There's been a recent rash of stolen hondas on my side of town lately too. Most of them turned up stripped already.
I'm starting a new job installing stereos soon so once the crx is road worthy again I can install some insane alarm system, removable steering wheel and possibly even lojack. Since the car is going to have a salvage title now (the worst thing about this whole ordeal) I'm only going to carry liability and glass because technically, the car is only worth $420 if I crash it or it gets stolen again. So no sense in paying for full coverage.

They were also on my passenger mirror, ebrake handle, seat belt, passenger molding, and claw marks everywhere. I'm not sure how the dog was involved, but it did a lot of pain in the *** damage.
