91 integra, crank but wont start, any suggestions?
I have a friend that his car wont start. Its in a restruant parkinglot(the one i work at) right now. He lives about 10 or 15 miles away from where he works. from what i understand the thing cranks but just doenst kick over. he said it has a lot of miles on it right now. Does anyone know if there are any special things i should look at? of course i am gonna check for spark, listen for the fuelpump and pull a plug out to see if its wet with fuel; general things like that. what else should i check for? im looking at it in a new days so im just checkin to see what else i should look at if the other tests prove to be good(thats i said iwas gonna do)
Also, if the distributor isnt giving any spark does that usally mean that the whole thing isnt good or could it possibly be just be the cap and rotor? any info would be helpful

wouldnt the car have to be running to test it?

i got a 93 teg and i had a simmlar problem although it happened whiel i was driving it. My problem was that the timing belt broke. and it still crinks but woudent kick over so that couls be 1 of many things
Last time i dealt with a 91 integra that didnt start, it turned out the timing belt snapped
. But i would suggest you check for spark, and fuel before going to that conclusion.

cranking but doesnt start, simple question, look at the starter? try pop starting it? check the volts going to the starter? i wouldnt waste time with the alternator, alternator has no effect on starting the car, alternator runs the car. its cranking so i take it theres juice in the battery. i would check the volts to the starter, make sure its getting power. if its stick try popping it. if its auto try tapping on the starter.

the alternator doesn't run the car and the starter makes it crank.. it's already cranking
check for fuel and spark, listen for the fuel pump as you turn it on too

lol yeah, i was confused when i read that. ill check all the basics and hopefully ill get somethin. I read a post on someone replacing the cap and rotor and it started, it had a very weak spark and i guess that did the trick. if its getting fuel ill try that(if its getting spark also)

check for spark, if no spark its probably your ignitor. our cars are notorious for ignitors going out. if there is spark check your main fuel relay (check the solders inside of it, they tend to crack).
here are a few things to check if the car is turning over, just like you said, check the timing belt, check for spark and fuel, if there is no spark or even fuel you need to check the main relay under the dash, it could be bad, its directly under the steering wheel behind the kick panel, its could be as simple as that, of course it could be the distributor, cap, rotor, its endless, lol just depends on the symptoms of the car. good luck.
