High mileage ITRs
Anything historically wrong with a high mileage ITR? Would there be anything wrong with starting to build up a fomerly-stock 85K mile ITR engine up? What's maintainence like at such relatively-high mileage? Any other info/comments are appreciated. Thanks.
I've just turned 100K miles in my 97 R.
My first and only compression check netted numbers in the 225-210 range just days ago, so there's no inherent reason not to get the car.
I guess a compression and leakdown check (on a warm engine), after a valve adjustment, would be a good indicator of the state of health. I'd change the timing belt ASAP if it hasn't beeb done already.
Sounds good, buy it and have some fun!

ditto Ed - I'm at 79,000 miles on my '98 & just finished timing belt, water pump, tensioner pulley + replaced original clutch/pressure plate/flywheel last couple weeks ....
Don't skimp - just keep up good maintenance & if you driver her hard do maintenance a bit earlier then recommended. You'll be fine!
