NSX-R GT!!!! the most expensive HONDA ever!!!!

taken from edmunds:
TOKYO — Honda is successfully campaigning its NSX coupe (Acura NSX in the U.S.) at the GT championship in Japan. Now it is translating the victories to street cred with the introduction of a special-edition model based on the GT racer. The NSX-R GT is guaranteed to be exclusive: Only five will be built and each will cost a cool half-million.
Technically, there's not much difference from the normal NSX-R; it's powered by the same 280-horsepower, 3.2-liter V6. However, there are a few carbon-fiber parts, which guarantees better handling and makes the car look like a Transformer: a huge air intake behind the rear window in 1970s racer style, a front apron and an underbody diffuser.
Order lines are open until March 22; the cars will be built in August.
What this means to you: Living in the U.S., we dream from a distance. Living in Japan, dreams can come true.
It is for homologation purpose only for JGTC which means they are not interested in actually selling the car, thus the ridiculous price and not much change on the engine.

que?
que?
Homologation = for the series, they have to run a production model car. In order to add certain mods to their race car, so many models have to be produced for them to be "legal". What they do is produce a really short run of cars just to make this quota and be able to make the mods legal because technically there were in a production car. Kind of cheating in a way, but its been going on forever.

Its what they've been doing with Rally Cars for decades. Audi Quattro Sport, Cosworth RS Escort, Ford RS200, and of course the immense amounts of special edition Imprezas and Lancers in Japan

Because of this purpose of making a very limited number of production units sold for the betterment of they're race team could be a very large reason why they are going for the price they are going for. There is a reason for everything and I highly doubt that number was thrown out there with out some kind of debate.
Only five people are going to own something extremely rare that ushered in a new Honda Racing Car. Not to mention that the NSX-R has always been the biggest and badest machine to wear the red R badge.
To be honest, if I had half a mil laying around and I knew I wasn't going to drive this car, I'd buy it strickly as an investment. Only 5 are being made...5.

I think you may be missing the mark.. That's not really a car meant to modify.

Uh, no. Konigsegg.

dang,
I'm all for the concept of this,
reward your racing victories with an amazing exclusive street car..
but really, the way they went about this, in my opinion only hurts the NSX's reputation.
As it already has a rep for being overpriced for what you get.. and now this?!?
They just took an NSX-R and threw some crazy body kit on it, and expect it to be worth HALF A MILLION DOLLARS!??!

Yeah see like people said. They don't care about the car. It is for homogolation purpose and I guarantee 5 people will buy all five cars and everybody will be happy. What they are paying for with the $500,000 price tag is no doubt the hours of research development and production that went into those few subtle differences. And then of course they want to make it worth their while so they tack on an extra couple hundred G's

Do you mean that the NSX that is for sale in the show room is over priced? Is that what you meant?
I've been under the impression through many an article and video that for a 1/4 of the price (the NSX) you get a car that touches numbers in the Super Car realm. I thought the whole reason was to give the buyer a **** load of technology, quality materials, a reliable engine with a decent sprinkle of racing tech thrown in there for a good price? *shrug
