LSVTEC questions
No No No, it ain't no "Is lsvtec reliable" or "What do I need for lsvtec" type of questions.
But, is there anything wrong in buying USED ITR pistons, ITR valve springs & retainers, and CTR cams?
Also, how much do those go for used/new? Any info would be great. Thanx.

ITR pistons are good.. just have to shave the small end of the rods... i have JDM ITR pistons on mine ls/vtec and havnt had a problem with it.. *knocks on wood* and i rev up to 8200 with ARP rod bolts.. but i have aftermarket springs retainers etc on the head...

yeah CTRs are sweet too, but pump gas becomes questionable. on a gsr head with the ctrs your c/r is 12.4:1 thats pretty high for even 93 octane.
i had my lsvtec spinning to 9200 trying to blow it up... it woudlnt happen.

the highest i ever seen a ls-vtec rev was past 9k. wasnt sure wat it was actully, was using the stock cluster, it was stuck after the 9k mark where we made a mark.

...i just had an ls cluster..the stock one. redline at 7, tach ends at 8.5k, then u just burry it.

it was on a eg. with a si cluster i believe. the max it goes was 8k. we getto rigged it with like a red tape to show where 9k would be by like measuring the distance from every 1k rpm.
So ITR pistons are good..but just needs to be shaved. What is PR3 again?
And I am completely building a ls/vtec, from bottem end to changing the valve cover..all good stuff, so I can drive this monster for awhile.

um, yes, itr are good. pr3 are b16a pistons. Valve cover?? why are u changing the valve cover?

Just wanted to let ya'll know that I am completely building this up, from the block all the way up to the head...but I do like the red valve covers over the ls's.
So do I need a shop to have the ITR pistons "shaved"? And should I use better rods or just my stock B16B rods?

wait... dood. the rods must be shaved, not the pistons, u had better not have b18b rods in that ls motor, and red valve cover over the ls? dont u mean over the vtec head? a red valve cover on an ls head is not an lsvtec

If you use p30 pistons then you'll get a good compression and you wont have to shave the rod. If you have questions that our website can answer please feel free to visit...they're in the how-to section. http://www.c-speedracing.com
