need info about b16 please help techs!
I am not a newbie to honda's at all, i am just new to the whole process of doing a motor swap. I have a 92 civic DX 4dr with a 1.5 non vtec motor. I want to do a swap this summer but since i have read a little more about it i am getting even more confused.
I am guessing that the motor i have now is OBD1 and the motor i am looking at is a JDM B16a gen.1 motor from totaljdm.com(http://www.totaljdm.com/index.cfm/fu...dm_engines.htm). Although i read about the OBD1 to OBD0 swap beeing troublesome, i am still leaning towards the b16a since it is only going to be around 1400 shipped instead of 2400 shipped and the b16 gen 2 motor only has 10 more hp.
Now what i would like to know is that this motor from totaljdm... is totaljdm honest and will i get what i paid for? and also does the motor come with everything i need? Because i was reading about the OBD1 to OBD0 and how tough the swap was.... am i going to be needing to spend another grand on making the swap work or will everything included with this package be what i need to swap it? Is there anything else i should know also because i read the swap forum that ricey did but i still was confused. I have big plans for the motor including spoon internals *shhhh..lol, so also can i up my redline to around 9000, 9200 with the gen 1 motor.
I really want to be sure about the swap which is why i am posting. Also dont judge by my post count or 2004 status. I dont post alot but i read alot. if you can please give me as much info as you can. and maybe i can get even more closure on the OBD0 conversion. Thanks

it will save alot of money in the long run to spend the extra $ now so you can finish your swap faster......if you buy OBD-0 you need a ECU, dist., wiring that is OBD-1......converting to OBD-0 from OBD-1 is like going from B16a back to D15 its pointless......
so instead of having the OBD0 ecu and everyhting... i would have to switch it ot obd1? so i would basically have to spend another 1000 on obd1 conversion? Thanks for the advise on the obd0 topic.
so if i go with the gen 2 motor, should i buy it from totaljdm or should i check my local salvage yards to see if i can pull a motor out of the 99-00 SI? i am really looking for a lsd also and i dont think that the 99 00 si comes with the lsd. But in you opinion which would be better..a bought motor with lsd or one taken out of an SI
you really cleared up the obd0-obd1 thing speedfreak thank u!!

your 92 civic came with hydrolic transmission so it's gonna cost your to covert the 1st gen to hydro.
you would be best getting the 2nd gen b16 swap, cost more now but will be much easier to installed cus you got all the parts needed.
