JDM B16 s1/jdm xsi B16 s1... differences?
a friend of mine just purchased a JDM XSI transmission off of ebay. its labeled S1. HE also has as JDM B16 transmission that came with the swap from a local place we have dealt with. it too is labeled S1. are there any differences between the 2 of the trannys? please let me know and thanks in advance for any provided information...

What?
We're telling you that they're the same transmission. Unless that importer threw in a 90-90 USDM Integra S1 transmission and called it a JDM one.

no, the B16 swap came with the S1... is it possible that he just got the XSi motor with the S1 tranny?

XSi motor is a b16, is it not? You don't make any damn sense.

Exactly. The S1 is a JDM Integra XSi Transmission, and it was used for the B16A (Man this thread is unneccessarily complicated) I'm not 100 percent sure what you're getting at, but if you look at the serial number below the B16A stamp you'll be able to tell if it's an SiR motor or an Xsi motor... a number starting with 5xxxxx is a JDM CRX SiR engine, and a number starting with 1xxxx is an Integra B16. It's possible that your importer mated a JDM S1 with a CRX SiR motor which would have come with the Y1 tranny - which sometimes had LSD. The YS1 tranny is also an Integra transmission, but it came on the 92-93 Xsi... it has a larger mainshaft and bearings, and sometimes comes with LSD. I hope this clears everything up for you. Basically if you put in that S1 and it has long gears, you got screwed with a USDM S1 transmission. If it's the short geared one, it's exactly the same as your other S1.
okay...
my best friend got what was supposed to be a SiR swap..... but it came with a S1 tranny therefore he paid for the SiR swap, but got hte XSi swap. i wont know for sure unless i check the serial numbers on the block. so well see...
sorry about all of the confusion!

That's cool man.
Your friend didn't necessarily get ripped off. I have a 5xxx series b16a and it's great, but odds are the Integra ones are a little less ragged on. That and the Y1 tranny has taller gearing.

where did he get the swap from? hopefully not local from maryland.
XSi with JDM S1.
i rather have XSi swap. it had 10 more ponies than the SiR, pr3 ecu and higher lift(.4mm) on intake and exhaust lobes, c/r is 10.4:1 unlike SiR 10.2:1.
these importers just put together **** that works. if everyone wanted just a full xsi or SiR alot of people would have broken trans and engines. so you'll have mix matched stuff.

Only the 1991~93 XSi's had the extra 10hp, 89~91 had the exact same engine as the old shape SiR.
