I went to Germany last year for $325 out the door roundtrip.
The fares are cheap depending on the season and carrier.

No, I be going for business and pleasure for 3 weeks in May. Company expense so I took ANA flight during high season of Golden week for $999.00. Continental was $750.00 but like JDM Airline's service better.

It just depends, I prefer AA over JAL, never flown on ANA.
Flying business class to japan is the only way to go... first class if you can swing it.

Rubs eyes in disbelief...
Business Class is nice, if YOU are not paying for the ticket. Economy Class on JAL is pretty nice. Right now it's about $490 round-trip from LAX to Narita or Kansai, which is why I wanted to find out more info bout this $300 fare...

AA is starting service to Nagoya... they have some great fare sales going on with mega bonus miles.
I still think AA economy is better than JAL's... mainly because of the plane 777>*
JAL rocks 747's which are not as nice as the newer 777
Anyone that flies international, I would try to get on a 777 unless you are flying on a CHEAP *** airline that does a 3x4x3 seat setup, then you will be in hell.
2x5x2 is wonderful
Esp cause they have a 2x5x2 seat arrangement. If you can, get in an exit row with your travel companion... thats what i do. You have about 12 feet of legroom and nobody sitting next to you

If I fly to Japan, I'm going to Tokyo. I've been to Nagoya, only reason to go there is for Suzuka
JAL Economy Class has personal TVs with 8-9 movies, plus the food (and drink) is WAY better than any US airline
True, sitting in a middle seat of a 747 is torture, but with my JMB Crystal card, I can always get an aisle seat

Either way, you have a long train ride into tokyo.
AA has personal inflight entertainment as well.
The food, in my opinion, is the same quality.
I know people that have flown on JAL first class... that is an experiance like none other from what I understand.
You cant go wrong with either airline, everyone has a preference, but one has to admit the 777>747
EDIT: Looking at uniteds website, it is 295 each way + taxes...
thats not really a deal at all unless i am looking at the wrong sale.
That 490 is a pretty good price though I dont think it includes tax does it?
500 is really good, 600 is decent, 700ish is normalish, anything more and you are paying too much

1) IM), flying to Nagoya is simply not practical if you want to go to Tokyo; a Nozomi Shinkansen train ticket would cost you another $105 EACH WAY and takes almost 2hrs. EACH WAY, whereas, a Narita Express (NEX) train ticket from Narita Airport to Tokyo is around $30 each way, and only takes about 1hr. Plus you have the option of taking a NEX train that goes directly to areas like Shinjuku and Ikebukuro for a few hundred yen more.
2) My wife was upgraded to first class on JAL from LAX-Narita; she said the food was simply incredible - something like this (taken from Airlinemeals.net):

hehe plus the 30 minute stupid taxi at narita airport
The rail pass makes it free, but you are right, the ticket is very expensive otherwise.... but if you have 500 into Nagoya or 700 into narita, id pick nagoya.
I still love customs and security at japan. I wish it was like that here
*drool* first class international... something ive always wanted to experiance.
Plus, dont think that all american carriers suck ***... continental is awesome so is flying Midwest... even NWA aint bad. Jetblue is friendly, i just hate the small seats and crappy rewards + i dont watch tv. Airtran is pretty cool, I love flying on 717's, very comfortable plan. I personally dont like Delta, UA, or US air...AA has a great rewards program so I mostly fly them.
Plus, look at british carriers like Virgin or BA. Virgin ROCKS, and BA is very awesome as well.

**** I am in the country and flights from tiny Okinawa to Tokyo range anywhere from $400-600. And it's only a 2 hr 45 min flight. Shane you need to swing by the tiny rock sometime. Most likely it will be quite expensive. But you can shack up at my place, plenty of room, about 45 tsubo total and it is just me.
I was thinking you, me and Rutt should meet up in Tokyo and go to Roppongi (since I've never been)
A lil OG ClubSi Pac Rim reunion
But yeah, back on topic - I'd still like to see the details of this "cheapo" fare.
