SFWD matching seat requirement?
how strict is this, anyone know? i have a sparco 4 point black seat now. if i got a black corbeau forza (5 point) and switched my sparco to the pass side, would that pass? both would be black non reclinable seats... just not exaclty the same. i really don't want to shell out the cash for 2 more seats.

In the past years they have been really strict with the rules in the sport FWD classes. What I would do is rather than ask on honda-tech if it will be alright e-mail the sanctioning bodies if it is okay. Print out there e-mail back to you and bring it with you to the races. Always find out for sure.

That's definitely a good idea. Even if you get through tech, a runner-up would have a legitimate reason to protest your car and get you disqualified. Rules are rules.

<-- waiting for a response from them.
I also have a sparco fighter2 seat, and need to obtain another passenger seat. However, I don't really wanna pay another 600 bucks for one.

i emailed or PMd (don't remember) the "old guy" from the NHRA a while back regarding the same issue and he stated that the rule of having matching seats is enforced.
What's extra cool is that the MOMO seat that I have has been discontinued. I can buy a similar momo seat, but instead of MOMO CORSE at the top it will just say MOMO. Hope I don't have to buy 2 new ones.

Yep kinda have the same problem.
I have a Sparco EVO L which was called the EVO 2 last year. In fact, although my seat has the new markings the stickers on the shell still refer to it as EVO 2.
This means that I have to buy a brand new one for the passenger side
Originally I was thinkin I could buy some beat to **** used one to save some money, but I guess thats out (since any used one would have the old markings).

funny how they are trying to keep costs down.. but will still require two seats. what about safety for the driver in just having a seat for the driver. if i wrote the rules one seat would be fine.. but i don't
and not to open a can.. but what is the difference between SFI and FIA? i know they have FIA certified seats. are they similar requirements / standards?

I'm sure this is true, but I personally just don't understand the rule.
I know they want to keep it a "street car" style of class, but...why don't they just make it..."you must have 2 front seats (driver and passenger), both fully apolstered."
Just makes no sense to me.

i talked to jim skelly at nhra:
me:
if i had a black non reclinable sparco sprint in the passenger side and a black non reclinable corbeau forza in the driver seat, would that pass for the SFWD class?
thanks,
nate hansen
jim:
Your seats should be fine. They're close enough. What we don't want to see is a
stock seat and an aftermarket, or two completely different style aftermarket
seats.

Awsome! Thanks for the definitive answer.
I wonder if a non-reclinable Sparco in the drivers side, with a reclinable sparco (same color of course) would pass. I guess that would be cosidered "different style". Oh well.

Just because the driver has a $600 seat doesnt mean the passenger needs one

Thats exactly my philosophy...lol.
I think it would be fine, since he said the corbeau(spelling) forza and a sparco would be fine.
