zc trans question

Default zc trans question

i know the zc trans uses an intermediate shaft but can you use it without one and use stock axels?

nope, you cannot use your stock axles. And i bileve its because the part that goes into the tranny is a smaller diamater

You CAN use your stock DX/Si axles and do away with the intermediate shaft, if you swap the ZC transmission's differential unit. I recommend swapping in an Si diff/final; it's got a more aggressive final drive ratio (4.250:1, versus the ZC's 3.88:1).

What I'm running in my '91 "DX/Si" (DX chassis, Si engine and interior):

ZC 1-4 gears
HF 5th gear
Si final/diff

It's all packed into your basic Si transmission case (pretty much any '88-'91 L3 tranny case will work), and it uses off-the-shelf Si axles. It accelerates a fair bit better than a stock Si.

you can use a zc tranny with stock axles theres 2 ways

this one:

and this one:

u get ur stock axles, and just replace BOTH inner joints on the stock si/dx axles with DA integra passenger side inners thats the EASY remidy other then hunting down the shaft
