Default Raising redline (b16a2)

I just installed itr cams in my car and want to raise my redline for as little $ as possible. I know i will have to replase my valvesprings (thinking omnipower) but will i also need new retainers because of the dual spring design. Also, how high of a redline can i risk without blue printing the bottom end/ installing new bearings. Finally anyone know of a cheap ecu option considering its OBDII and i dont want to have to buy a new ecu if possible
thanks

first off with itr cams your power band does not go much higher so not really worth it to get springs and retainers.

second to be able to rev higher you would need a clip over to obd1 an obd1 ecu and you need it reprogrammed...

if you raise the rev limit past the powerband your motor will just rev and your car wont really be going anywhere. that sucks

Or you could just buy yourself a VAFC controller.

i think the most restictive part of the valvetrain is the head....porting/polishing works wonders...i mean there isnt really a cheap way to raise valvetrain and still make power unless you get some beefy cams/valvetrain/tuning then port the sheeat out of it

however, you can take itr cams up to the 9k range, but to see that youre gonna have to upgrade the valvetrain to ITRs at least. where you just got those cams if u throw in itr valvetrain with them youll notice the difference.

i second the vafc option tho...chips work for mild set ups, but full tuneability what more could you ask for (besides hondata)...

Yea, I agree. Stock b16a2 limit is 8400, and that's just fine. Unless you have a lot of work done(cams, valvetrain, portwork), you won't be making any more power. I can rev mine to 8700 and I've done it many times but it doesn't make any more power than at 8400. If you look at a b16 dyno chart, max power is made around(don't quote me on this) 7800-8100.

A VAFC does nothing for a rev limit.

Contact http://www.locashracing.com. If you upgrade cams and raise rev limit, you're going to want to look into getting a set of better valve springs and retainers... at least ITR spec valvetrain.

It's basically saying that though my redline is much higher than his, he makes more power than I do(LSVTEC vs B16A2). That's what it has to do with redline..
