Default gsr or b16 tranny on LS motor ?

ok which tranny is a better swap for daily driving on an LS? I know that the b16 on the LS will cruise at high RPMs on the freeway which is alot of pressure on the motor. Is the GSR any better and if it is what are its pros and cons? if it cost just just a lil more than thats nothing at all.

I have a b16 tranny and it does'nt ride that high if you are in fith at 70 it rides around 4800 the gsr tranny is going to be about the same at highway speeds because the gsr trannies gears are almost the same as the b16 after 2nd. If you want great take off and good tourqe to the wheels I would go with b16.

Depends on what your future plans are for the car and what kind of racing if any you will be doing. If you're sticking n/a I say b16, going boost then gsr.

Damn, thats gonna suck for fuel economy and noise. My auto is only like 4000 rpm at 80mph. No torque but nice for highway commute.

the b16 will kill your top mph and rev really high going 70 or so ....but to say which is the best trany for track, rally, use; depends on your power band....there isn't much to say without know that first but for daily driving i would say the gsr....lower rpm equals less noise from muffler

wtf? 4800rpms? I have a b20 w/ a b16 tranny and I cruise at 70 at only 4000rpms. I guess it's just the motor difference.

To address the question, it really depends on goals. Boost = gs-r, all motor = b16 (or type r!), and since it's a daily driver, I recommend boost. It's more efficient! I daily drive my b16 tranny and although I shift a lot, I don't mind, it's not killer. Just don't get a loud exhaust.

hm... i get around 4000rpm cruzing wit my b16 on my LS too. 4800rpm is usually around 85-90mph for me. Probably having 17' rims is a factor

i got a 99 gsr trannny for my 97 LS and I have traction issues off the line just with this tranny. at 80mph im doin 4200 rmp which gets annoying as hell. if its a daily driver don't get the SI tranny, you'll use up lot of gas, have hard time gettin good 60fts and have to do a lot of shifting. My LS tranny was my LSD for me.

GSR tranny is perfect for daily driving and strip, not to mention I saw a huge difference after I dropped the gsr tranny in my car. (also put in clutch flywheel, etc.)
