Swapped EG suspension
Onto my DA. I realize now the struts for the EG are too tall for the DA, effectively killing any suspension travel. The rears seem to be fine, the fronts are compressed, even after giving it "4 fingers" of gap. (i love that way of measure, so precise)
I'm using Koni Yellows/Ground controls. Anyone think i could regain at least enough travel using those caps ground control makes? Or should i just order a new front pair?

I am running EG/DC Koni Sport coilovers on my DA with no problems, I took some pics of my DA shocks and Konis next to each other, and they seemed to be really close in length. I am running H&R 60mm (~10 inches long) and around 300# spring rate springs in the front, and they seem to be doing ok. If you send me some pics, I can see if I have the same problem on my car, haven't noticed anything though based on adjustment or ride - I haven't bottomed out on the cut bumpstop, and I am running stock dust covers too.

hmm.. what front forks did you use on the EG struts? I'm sitting ON the bumpstops from the civic, up front. I'm using the stock GC civic suspension setup. What kind of gap do you have between the tire and the fender? What size tires?

I am using EG drop forks, with EG brake line brackets. I am also using EG top hats, I trimmed my bumpstops about an inch. Since my Koni sports coilovers have a 60mm ID perch, I was able to use the full length stock dustcover in the front as well. I am running 195/60R14 tires, I have the perch set at about 17 threads from the bottom of the sleeve, and the front gap is 2 fingers. Also, when I had the whole assembly together, minus the spring, I pushed the dustcover and bumpstop all the way down and never hit the perch (just to test out the possibility).

funny. im using exactly the same setup, minus the dustcovers. im using 195/50/15 tires. with a 4 finger gap. and im sitting on the bumpstops.

That's freakish, I was thinking maybe you left off the brakeline brackets or didn't cut the bumpstops. I am very happy with the fronts right now (which I bought brand new), although I don't have much room to go lower. Are you using the normal 7 or 8 inch GC springs? I saw a thread on the EF Konis where they only have 3-4 inches of travel, but I don't think that is an issue with EG/DC.

im using the normal GC springs. i cut the bumpstops, but i think i may cut them a tad more, to see if i can get ANY travel. im sitting higher on the threads, probably 20 or so.
where do you have your circlip set at, on the bottom? i'm sitting hwere it came from koni.. i think it's the middle notch.

I believe I am on the middle notch as well, since Koni assembled them and encourage everyone to use that circlip notch as it's the stock setting. I am using their 60mm ID gold colored perches and sleeves - I think they have 3 different versions. My understanding was that the DC/EG shocks would actually provide more travel than the DA/EF, and that's why I ended up using them.

Take a couple pictures and PM CRX Lee (he is the head of motorsports for Koni), he should be able to help. But I really don't think that's normal, if you want, I can take pics also, but you can't see anything on my car because the dust covers cover up the shaft and bumpstops. It handles normally though, I was very happy with the EG/DC shocks on my DA.

yeah, i pm'd lee. but i just got him on the phone. he's telling me the civic springs are too soft, and they compress too much for the DA. what i *should* do, other than getting stiffer springs, is to preload the springs more. also my bump rubber (bump stops) might still be too long.

I see I see, thank god for Lee Grimes!
See if you can find a used pair for the front (maybe an 8 inch, 2.5 ID, 400#) from the Road Racing/Autocross forum spring sale thread and cut the bumpstops a bit and you should be good.
Good luck!

yeah, that did it. turns out my bumpstops were longer than i thought. stupid memory measurement.
that'll do for now until i get some springs from someone. thanks for your help.
