Default 96-98 ex engine harness needed HELP!, 00 b16a2 swap question, 97 cx hatch....

so i have a 97 cx hatchback, and i bought what i thought was a complete 00 b16a2.. so i pull out my stock cx engine, which already sold, cuz i had a new wire harness attached to the b16. so i cant use the cx harness for modifcation anymore (to run vtec) well the b16s wire harness only has 2 ecu plugs on the engine side of the harness. THEY DID NOT TELL ME THIS they said it would plug right in to my stock 97 ecu, which is not true since the 99-00 si had the third plug on the dash harness. the only way i found around this problem is getting a 96-98 ex wire harness which has all 3 plugs on the engine harness, and is already wired for vtec.

So i need a 96-98 ex engine harness...anyone have one? ive been looking everywhere.

or does anyone else know away around this? my car is going on its second week of being down.

any help is appreciated... thanks

I dont have one, but your best bet is to find a 96 to 98 EX harness. You have to extend a few wires but everything plugs up.

Also you cant really use the 97CX ecu. You will need to get a ecu thats been chipped or one that is for an obd2 b16/b18.

the vtec wires need to be extended, since the vtec solenoid is in the front of the distributor on the b16. I think thers one other wire that I extended but ill have to look. If your using the b16 stock manifold you will have to extend the o2 sensor wires or you can just unwrap the tape and pull the wires back so they will reach the back side of the engine. I think everything else will plug up. Im doing a b16a2 swap out of a 2000 SI in my 96 hatch and I am using the EX harness. I will look at my engine in the morning and see if there was anything else that needed to be done. I can take some pictures if you need also.

Call hilltop honda salvage. 423-928-4469 You should be able to get one shipped for around 150. Ask for Buck and tell him Billy told you to call.

I think the plug your taliking about goes to the crank fluctuation sensor (sp). Ill go take a pic of mine and we will see.

Ok. Is it the plug that I have circled in red? If it is then that plug goes to the Crank fuctuation (sp) sensor, and it would plug into the one I have circled in blue. The plugs are different and you can rewire it so it will plug in, but since your using a p28 ecu there is no need to do so. The p28 doesnt look for that sensor so you dont have to plug it in.

You may also have a grey plug on the back of the engine that has one green wire and one black wire. That plug goes to the power steering preasure switch (at least that is what I was told). If you have power steering then it should hook up somewhere but if you dont you can just tape it up out the way. Here is a pic of the one on the back of my engine, the wire is long because i had to splice it on due to a broke plug, I circled it also.

haha i refreshed the page and the pics work.. anyway. yeah thats the right one.. what wires do you splice together cuz the crank sensor has two.. and the other plug has 3? also did you only have one o2 sensor? i was told there was supposed to be two. thats why i thought that long wire was the secondary o2 sensor, which is supposed to plug into the cat, and the primary plus into the downpipe on the headers, like in the pic. but then there is one plug i dont know about still that i mentioned previously.

You dont have to rewire the crank sensor because the p28 ecu doesnt look for it. Also the p28 ecu doesnt look for the second 02 sensor so no need to worry about it either.

What color is the plug that is near the firewall? If is kinda big and brown it doesnt plug in anywhere. Its just there.

Also there isnt any wireing on the EX harness for the second 02 sensor because the wireing actually comes out the body underneath the car by the catalytic converter. My hatch and yours have the catalytic converter on the manifold and thats the reason we have the second 02 sensor in the factory cx harness.

the plug i am talking about comes off the harness near the same place as the wire that goes to the fuse box. i dont see any place it plugs into.
