Right Price For a '98 R???
This guy around here is selling his R for 18k......its a 98 CW Type R 32,xxx miles on it. What do you guys think?? I kno its kind of vague but from what ive heard its clean as hell, and been kept in great shape all of its life. No Body Damage just sun fade on seats. (its garaged) ( im trying to get pics)
Im really looking into a 01, do u think it would be better to buy this one bc of the price? or is it possible to find a 01 for close to the same price as this 98??
If your looking into an 01 that would be my recommendation to you...a clean low-mileage 98 will run you close what you can pick up a 00-01 with higher miles. There are deals out there...you just have to be patient and keep your eyes open. Good luck with everything

Agreed...........Seems a little steep to me.........but maybe I'm a cheap ***
I think you could most likely find an 01' with about the same mileage and pay 18-20k for a newer car.
Or if I were you I'd offer less for the 98'. I personally feel that 16.5-17k is a better price.
Larkin who's an enthusiast, but was willing to wait for a great deal when I bought my 97' 2.5 years ago.

exactly....which is usually what will hold that higher resale. When it comes down to it they are just miles...but to the collector/enthusiast that makes all the difference. Its finding the right buyer.

Yeah when I read that I was thinking "18k? for a 98? how about 15 or so?"
Then again I don't really consider ITRs to hold as much value as most people here.

Thats what I payed for my 97' in September 2002 w/ 36K stock and clean titled.
I'm proof that deals can be found
But I'm sure that that car can get 18k from the right buyer, I just wouldn't be the right buyer.

How hard has he driven it is also a important question. Did he autocross it? Did he take it to the track occasionally? Did he race it on the street much? Is it bone stock?
Make sure to ask these questions and not base your purchase solely on the fact that it has been garaged. If it's 32,000 highway miles, your gettin' a deal

You should see how much the dealerships are selling them for. Just 2 months ago there was a yellow R with 40K sold at a dealership in the Chicago suburb for $22K.

It's definately worth it if wasn't a track ***** and was well maintained. Personally, I wouldn't prefer a "newer" ITR to an "older" CW. The immobilizer would be nice but I'd always want to continue to own a CW.
Just for the sake of comparison, I bought my '97 from the first owner 14 months ago with 24K and in absolute showroom condition with the cheaper Bridgestones, one model below the RE010's (I burned through them anyhow). Plus the owner was an older gentleman who never seemed to speak of racing. He was asking 18.9k and we reached a concensus at 17.3k. Hope that helps.

I feel the price is ok, but the caR better be mint.
As for the sun fadded rear seats,,, If the guy has it in the garage at home that means it sits in the sun a lot during the day and possible has been exposed to winter elements. Just a thought because the caR has such low miles. Also if it has been sitting out there then maybe he has had some sort of theft attempts that have been repaired???
