I think the lca is different for the 5 lug type r's. My buddy had some jdm type r suspension and he wanted to get some tein's. The end of the lca that connects to the shock is not a hole style like the civic. It's a fork style so the shocks are like a hole. (hope that makes sense)
The jdm spec 4 lug type r suspension is similar to civics I think opposite of the 5 lug. My buddy's friend put those on his eg with slight moddification. I was thinking of doing the same swap but I can only use the 4 lug b/c I already have some tein flex's and I don't wanna sell those babies . But I got some spoon sw388's now so I'ma just do a regular rear disc conversion.

The trailing arms themselves are interchangable. The part numbers are different, but that could be due to a different TA bushing. There is some debate, however, weather or not the spindle (bolted to the TA) is the same. The fact is that the Type R has larger rear disc brakes. I have yet to find out weather or not the difference is in the spindle, or the caliper mounting bracket (attached to the caliper). If the EG spindles are in fact different, you can just transplant your old type R spindles (if they're still good) onto the EG trailing arms. It will require a large torx bit (don't know the size) to remove the 4 spindle bolts...

If your new EG trailing arms are used, your going to want to replace the TA bushing with something better. The new OEM honda replacement bushing is said to be identicle to the Mugen version (for less money)...
