Default Jackson racing header installed

Well we got bored tonight and decided to finally throw on the Jackson Racing Race Header on the RSX. Our friend Kevin's grandpa owns almost every warehouse downtown kzoo, and a semi repair shop so what better place to work on it! Every tool we need is available. If you can't get a bolt loose in there or off... you aint never gettin it off.

We also decided to modify my friend tyler's crx the winter beater up. Their's also an outdoor scale in downtown kzoo pretty much anyone can drive up on and see how much their car weighs, in a secret location  . My car weighs 2800lbs, and 2940 w/ me in it, and that scale's very accurate cuz i weigh 140lbs exactly.

Our project car in all her beauty:

Doesn't look out of place does it?

My car and the crx gettin worked on:

Stock header/cat next to the Jackson racing race header and test pipe:

Header installed. Kinda hides in there.

The beast in all her glory, cut springs, spray painted black, and stage 10 weight reduction. haha We also weighed her tonight, ~1800lbs! and its going to have a jdm ZC motor in it within the next couple of weeks. Not bad for a beater.

We decided to hook an aftermarket intake onto the crx. Grabbed from a semi, we may have to modify the hood:

We decided to ditch the all motor idea and just go turbo. So we put a semi turbo on her real quick w/ a custom install to the IM. she's fast now!

No as far as performance goes: You can not hear vtec engage anymore. Which is what made this motor so unique w/ an intake on. When vtec hit it was loud, now its just overall... LOUD. haha. With no cat, and 1 resonator it screams. Its ricetastic i guess you could say, but you gotta sacrifice some stuff for speed. Top end is ridiculous. Much faster says the butt dyno. No CEL codes thrown so far. Every time the car changes momentum like changing gears, there's a knocking noise. And im almost positive its my motor mount inserts. i need stiffer ones, cuz the header is banging against the sway bar.

The install was EASY. The stock bolts came out fairly simple. I was afraid it'd be harder from stories i heard. The header dropped out real easily, and the new one in even easier. We finished this in prolly a good hour - hour half.

Next on my list is intalling my hondata IM gasket, installing my motor mount inserts, and ordering KPRO when i get the $.

Looking good man! How loud did that thing become with the race header? Does is drone in the cabin very badly? I am trying to decide what header/exhaust combo to run on the old ep3, but I live in Lexington, KY so there arent many cars to listen to around here.

To be honest normal city driving hasnt changed a bit IMO inside. When you get on it WOT it does get louder, but you dont notice it too much inside the car. it's all the outside cars around you that hear it. And what do we care? haha But like i said you dont hear i-vtec engage as good as w/ stock exhaust.

BTW im running a Greddy Evo II exhaust setup.

you have to get either KPRO, or some casper 02 sim mod to fool the car and it will shut off, other than that leave it on. for now i have to leave it on.

speed-star racing. let me know.

you can either buy one. or have someone make you a homemade o2 simulator to trick the ecu on throwing oxygen codes. don't ask this electrically retarded fool how to make you one.

lookin' awesome.

My car is hella loud with the Dc race header. But like he said inside the car it's not to bad except when I wind it up into vtec range and you can hear the cam change over really good. I go under bridges and think to myself that soon I will be stopped for loud exhaust. But I also have the racing medallion so that no doubt makes it ever louder.

This is the site for the O2 sim, but the sales guy has said that it won't work if you don't have a cat (read: race header). The only way to ditch it reliably is with the hondata K-pro. Otherwise, it will stay off for about 3-5 start cycles before the light goes on. The best way to reset it is to pop the ECU CEL fuse under the hood. There's a good info session on this in Club RSX, just type in O2 light in a search field.
