wrecked ssbp jizzer
hey everyone, i used to drive a ssbp 98 gsr with a fairly new motor (stock usdm w/ 11k miles).
i just got into an accident and the insurance co. told me it's a total loss. the insurance co. is going to give me a check for $8800 minus a 1000 dollar deductible. so now ill have 7800 for another car. i was wondering if i should ask my insurance to buy the car back for the motor + parts for $3000. do you think its worth it to buy it back or to find another car for 7800?

It's not just the motor that you would be buying the car back for. You have to consider all of the usable interior pieces, suspension pieces, wheels, doors, body panels, and everything else that could be sold. $3000 sounds fair enough if you're willing to sit on some parts while you try and sell them. Otherwise, just take the $7800.
Definitely take the $7800 and get another GSR. Now, for that much you won't find another GSR with such low miles but you could always get another older integ and swap a new GSR motor.
Think of it this way: If you do the JDM front on the car, even after paint, installation and frame work (if necessary), you should still have at least a thousand bucks in your pocket.

i really cant tell if theres frame damage or not. the insurance co. told me that repairs would cost about 9400 dollars so even if i do fix it and get a jdm front, ill still have that damn salvage title. im just scared that itll be hard to sell it in the future.

Actually, looks like there may be some frame damage. Repairing and pulling the frame costs an arm and a leg. I wouldn't buy it back to try and fix it. Parting it out and making some cash sounds like a good idea. Good luck man.
