WHY WOULD THE COOLANT LOWER COOLANT HOSE BE COLD WHEN THE TOP IS HOT EVEN IF I CHANGE...?
This motor is a d15b8 in a 94 cx and we replaced the thermo with a honda thermo(it opens) new headgasket (we resurfaced the head) and radiator. it doesnt smoke at all and i let the car run for like 15mins but the fan wont cut on and the return coolant hose is cold and the top one is hot. i pull the return hose out when the car was warm and still no coolant come out. Its not overheating. Any ideas on what this could be?
Sounds like your coolant isn't circulating, possible due to the fact that the thermostat isn't opening. Sometimes when you replace the thermostat or do other work on your coolant system, an air pocket forms up on the block side of the thermostat. The air doesn't get hot enough to open the thermostat, so it stays closed. To fix the problem, you need to bleed out the air using the bleeder valve.

so? the fan doesnt HAVE to come on.. lol. your cooling system is working good. leave it alone and just watch your heat for the first few days. Your fan probably wont come on unless you just got done beating the crap out of your car.

First time I changed the coolant in my car, I thought there was a problem too. To get the return line flowing and fan to come on, you have to run the car at high idle for about 20 minutes or so, or just drive around for a while. It takes alot longer than I thought it would. I'm pretty sure you're fine.
