Default comptech icebox Q

I was looking into getting this intake as my first mod, since I realized that with the assload of rain we get it would be a good idea for peace of mind. I also would rather not get the AEM with bypass valve and lose that 1 or 2 whp.
Anyway.. does anyone know if you HAVE to use Comptech's drop in filter or if a K&N or similiar filter will work? I don't see why one wouldn't, but I figured I should ask those of you who have used it. Thanks.

Instead of spending that insane amount of money for a box and tube, why don't you just make one for about $10 using your stock airbox. You can also cut up a stock filter and attach a K&N to it if you want. Search for posts by BSQ to find a link to instructions on his site.
